Lil Wayne blows

I'm sick of hearing this annoying motherfucker. I'd rank him up with soulja boy on rappers that I most hate, in fact I just laugh when Soulja Boy comes on. I cringe when Lil Wayne does. His rapping voice is fucking awful, maybe its just me who can't stand it.

wow there have actually been at least 3 different lil wayne threads created today! even the haters can't get off his dick! If you don't like him then just leave it alone and do go around making threads about him! How many threads does it take to understand that music is subjective and that there is no conclusion that can be derived from this...

personally I like him a lot....I'm not gonna waste my time telling you everything that's great about him because you guys don't like him and don't care.... which is your right and I respect that.

There's different types of music that people can enjoy, if that's what you're trying to get at. Ex: I don't listen to hip-hop a lot, but I have a lot of respect for the guys that are good.

People don't hate Lil Wayne because the type of music he makes, they hate him because he is a substandard "musician" who subsides off of people like you. Don't blame threads like this on intolerance, the fact of the matter is that he's really horrible.

^ but the fact that your saying he's really horrible shows that you missed my point. I'm trying to say that you are allowed to THINK he's horrible with as much right as i am allowed to THINK he's good....neither of us can be wrong because it is purely subjective...on matters such as music I don't believe one person (a critic) can have more authority on the matter...yes, someone can be more knowledgeable about music, but not they cannot speak for everyone since people have different tastes.

No, what I'm trying to say is that some people are clearly better than others. Saying Lil Wayne is good is like saying some kid in the middle school band is is talented as Sonny Rollins if you learn to appreciate it enough. Sure, you can enjoy it, but the kid still sucks.

And I'm not saying you need to change what you like, I'm just expressing my dissent toward people that support mediocrity.

no but you can't say he sucks, because he only sucks according to you. You are in no position to decide wether or not he is good because that depends solely on the listener's opinion and no one else's. Sorry I'm just a subjective stickler...and I'm not saying that this goes for everything, for example I completely agree that subjects such as the quality of certain books should not be judged simply by wether or not you liked it, some books are clearly better and more enlightening then others... granted as are certain songs...however if we are talking strictly listening pleasure, then you cannot say that lil' wayne sucks, only that you think he does.

well put. i wouldnt say that weezy blows, but hes not the best rapper around, and i def wouldnt compare him to soulja boy

Where were you to stick up for soulja boy? hahaha

Music quality does not depend on the listener's opinion. How much someone likes it depends on their opinion. I listen to some music that is inferior quality but I know that when I'm listening to it, like shitty techno or bad hyphy rap. Its just fun to listen to sometimes. However, I would not impose this shitty techno on anyone that didn't want to listen to it because I know its bad. Same concept applies to Lil Wayne, stop playing that shit. He has easily one of the most god awful voices in rap, how the fuck is he still afloat and succeeding? Because of morons... There's so much undiscovered quality hip hop out there. And people ask why hip hop is dying, if not already dead.

And seriously if I see one more person drive past be blaring Yahh Trick Yahh I'm going to fucking shoot them. No one thinks you're cool listening to the most mainstream of horrible hip hop.

You want a good album? Get "The Book of Human Language" by Aceyalone. Its fucking dope.

ill admit he puts out the occasional good song..but then u hear something like lollipop....

- i think most lil wayne fans enjoy his good beats and catchy hooks....wait thats most mainstream rap

look i just like lil wayne cause he can flow on anything and he has mad metaphors that are funny and make no sense most of the time and i really like his dirty voice that at times is rasta or R&B and i also respect him for his dedication to hip hop; he is not too blame for the supposed death of it either, he records 3 to 4 tracks a day, every day. that is unheard of...he has more cds and mixtapes then most artists have songs....even if their not all great he's still in the booth working his ass off and is completely devoted to his trade, which is something i respect.

lollipop is baller.

sooo creative tho and funny it's just crazy what he raps about get off his dick stop hating

i personally really like weezy. sometimes his shit doesnt make sence, but who really listens to rap for the deep personal messages, if you do you need to chill the fuck out. he has sickk beats and cuts it up on the mic

Lots of people say the Backstreet Boys are good. I'll be the first to admit that sometimes I like to listen to a couple really shitty bands, but just because I enjoy listening to it doesn't mean they're any good at all.

Honestly, tell me how these lyrics are good.

I'm not saying this in a judgemental way toward anyone here, I am really curious as to how people find any meaning or inspiration in this. We shouldn't be rewarding people who take music to a level this low.

Maybe I'm just looking at things all wrong thinking music should be meaningful, insightful, and thought-provoking.

it the quality of the lyrics in this case is irrelevant, i think the song sounds good and i enjoy listening to it. I agree that music can and should be thought provoking etc, but it is also simply a form of entertainment... and when I just want to be entertained I put on weezy and "ya i like that"....plus some of his metaphors actually require some reflections...for example I'm still trying to figure out what he meant by saying "i am agriculture" .... but then again the man drinks cough syrup...

He doesn't do his own beats... don't give Lil Wayne for what he doesn't do ... what he DOES do is rapping badly.

Look. I hated the guy more than anybody. If you are looking to lil wayne to get spiritual enlightenment or deep thought provoking lyrics you will get let down time and time again. He is not a lyrical mc nor even in the same class of lyrical mc's. No denying that.

But the people who listen to Lil Wayne could care less, and aren't listening to him to get inspired to write sonatas. They listen to him for the exact same reason that the majority of music listeners listen to their music..

Because it's catchy. Because he's got his own style, doing his own thing.. and because it "sounds good" to them. I know some of the dopest underground emcees. Who'se lryics are on a total different level. But the problem is I could tell you a 100 different people who sound just like them. For that reason alone, you'll probably never hear of them.

Like it or not, there's only one lil wayne. Even if there are artists out there trying to bite his style.. *cough*lil bow wow*cough* as well as everybody and their mama these days.. and even if he does kiss Birdman and is flaming homosexual with him.. if you haven't seen the vids. you need to. haha as well as the spoofs.

Point being..

Music is subjective.

So let it be.

I'll go with you in saying that music is mainly for the purpose of entertainment and therefore its your call on what you choose to like or not like, but you aren't understanding what they're saying up above. They're referring to talent, and personally I believe that there are many more rappers out there with much more of it than Lil Wayne.

^ yes, but because i am looking at music on a strictly subjective level, talent is something that cannot be categorized. This is because there is no standard to compare it to. For example, if a runner wins a race, most of the time it is safe to assume that this athlete is more talented than the others. However, since music here is only being looked at for the purpose of enjoyment, it is impossible to state as a concrete fact that one artist is better than another. Granted great composers such as Mozart, etc are truly musical geniuses and have immeasurable talent, yet personally their music has no appeal to me. I prefer lil wayne, he sounds a lot better and is a lot more entertaining to me. I may be making myself look like an idiot with no taste in music by stating this, but I know I like him and therefore am correct in saying that he is a good rapper, and that is the beauty of subjectivity.
