-some features can be set up decent

-ski for free

-boss is a douche

-even with 50% off food its still very expensive

-no challenging terrain

Vail
Likes:some of the most epic pow days everlots and lots and lots of terrainfun people who live in the valleygood drink/food specials in town after skiingwhen the pass gets snowed in, people can't come from the east, so pretty much only the locals get the first tracks from a big storm
Dislikes:there's almost toooo much terrain, been living there for a season now and it's impossible to ski everythingpark sucks, in general, until like 2 weeks near the end of the seasonoverall, not really steep enough for my liking...sometimes i just want gnarlier lines

Likes: Lots of dope kids and most of the lifties are pimp, sick park once it gets goin, airsite's helpful.

Dislikes:The park doesnt open for a couple weeks after the hill does, even when there's tons of snow they close down in early april, some of the skipatrol are dicks(some arent).

Liberty, PA
Pros:lolpark is okCons:smallcrappy liftsdid i mention small?crowded!landings after rails get pits frequently
Whitetail, PA
Pros:less cons that liberty1 high speed lift that rarely stopslonger trailsvery few people during weeknights
Cons: park is meh

Likes: Close to my house

Open 9am to 9pm

Doing a hill expansion to double the size

Dislikes:

8 runs

121 foot vert

Rip off seasons pass

Park isnt open until a month after the hill

Crappy park

Slow lifts

Everyone snowboards

They make ride on sliders that you cant slide because theyre too thin and you cant turn sideways for snowboarders

Lots of dicks

Lifties are grumpy

The halfpipe hasnt been open for 2 ears even though they get payed by a sponsor for it

No free skiers

Tons of gapers

No powder

Forest is off limits, if you're found you get kicked out

7 features

Closes in march

They don't let you session after it closes

Yeah, I love boler "mountain"

Like: Only 15 minutes away, short lines.

Dislike: No park, THE jump is crap, rails are crap, not much pow. Only 1 chairlift and 2 ski tows ala T-hook.

mission ridge

likes: Great people

dislikes:park blows

well near maryland, there are no good mountains soolikes-its kinda close at 1 hour awaydislikes-everything about my local skiing.

Cascade 'Mountain'

likes- close by. like 15 mins.

dislikes- midwest pretty much sums it up. park has gone way downhill after some insurance shit. used to be one of the sickest parks around. not enough snow. season is pretty short

Eagle Rock, PA

Pros: no lift lines EVER!!!, i ski for free, uncrowded,

Cons: 45 min away, park sucks, twintip populatin: about 2

smuggs

likes:

-free t bar cause they never check so i can bring friends

-free crackers and water at the caf

-free hot chocolate at the end of the day on thursdays and fridays

-sick hidden trails all over

-my cottage is super close

-doesnt usually have a big line up

-super chill patrollers, except some of them

-everyones really nice including the gapers

-the village is so sick. especially in the summer

dislikes:

-park staff is a complete fucking jokei dont even think they have a park staff im pretty sure its just the dude who does the events that "takes care" of it

-slow ass chairs. not that bad though cause theres less people on the hill

-10 dollar prizes for a 20 $ entry fee comp

-there are races EVERY FUCKING DAY. and you need to take the t bar to cross over the race course to hit the mini park and the fucking douche bag soccer moms always complain. fuck them. i dont have anything against racers but they also clog up our t bar and caf.

-they dont have many comps each year. and when they do they try and make their setup really crazy but it just ends up being dangerously sketchy cause they dont know what theyre fucking doing.

-almost everything is ride on. there idea of a street style rail is a super non kicky jump, and then a rail thats super fucking high up but isnt even in a down

-once they had an actual legit down that i set up but some fuckhead patroller closed it off cause he thought it wasnt safe enough.

-3 foot gap to get onto a 6 foot rail....

-super non-progressive lips so they kick you right away into this ultra flat landing thats covered in ice. yum

-no more half pipe this year

-no more free hot chocolate at the end every week. ad now you have to finish an hour early just to go get some.

-gapers everywhere you look. but every mountain is like that pretty much

-fucking d bags wont even let me groom there unmaintained setups for fucking free cause i got mad once and tackled a gaper who fucked up my landing on purpose

-huge icy vaginas in every landing of every rail. my favorite

-battle ship box literally goes like this _ their rainbow rail also does that too. and theyre super short

____/ \_____

and digusting, like in my little drawing

-nails stick out of boxes sometimes

-because of some vermont law smuggs has to limit their snowmaking. kind of understandable though.

-they dont belive in step ups

-they always ask us for input but dont listen, they just pretend to and make the shittiest stuff ever

-the t bar is like 50 years old and breaks literally every half hour. it gets so annoying

-biggest asshole manager ive ever had the misfortune of meeting

-smuggs hosts this ussa comp each year that looks super legit, but we cant even enter cause you have to be part of this group or something that sosts money.

-they always try to make a super legit setup at the begining of the year to get everyone stoked, but then they disappoint us after it detiriorates from not being groomed.

-there are absolutely no diggers at smuggs, everything is made so that it gets groomed by the cat, resulting in sketchy ass setups with rounded off lips.

-there are 3 cat drivers and they take turns grooming the park (rarely) only one of them is alowd to put down the shuvle (sp?) though.

-you arent alowd to flip into the pool in the village.

-you get cut off by gapers hitting the second jump cause they have to cross the park to get to the parking lot and they never look up hill.

-foreigners man-handle our fragile t bar cause they dont give a shit if it breaks

thats all i can think about right now. i sounds like i hate smuggs but i really dont, just their park.

Why in the fucking world are some people bummed that they live 45mins. away fro their mountain. I live 1:15 away from mine. It would be amazing if mine was just 45min. away. I could get 30min. more sleep.

Likes: theres snow.Dislikes: A ton of snowboardersit used to be a landfillthe chair lift breaks down constantly, i got stuck on it once for three hours in 0 degreesIts like 40 acresthe only jumps are the three foot ones ski patrol goes overits a piece of crap

crystal mtn

I like:

- snow can be really nice at times

- big open bowls

- nice techy trees in some areas

- big cliffs

dislike:

- zero park

- many many many gapers

- ski patrol, as seen on TruTV (some are chill though)

- the no jump building policy

- expensive passes

Overall I say the awesome snow and bc vastly overpower the negative aspects of not having a park. Yay.

Mount Ruapehu, North Island, New Zealand
LikeBetter than no mountainDecent vertical (about 2400 feet)Good people2-3 really good express chairlifts
DislikeIt's the only mountain servicing 3,000,000 people - it gets soooooooo busy on weekendsThere's bugger all snow - My skis take a pounding The bugger all snow they do get is shit - so much crud/corn/ice/slushThe food is shit and 3x as expensive as food brought off the mountainIts windy as shitThe park is shitVisibility is usually shitThe lifts are shitIt's icy as shitIf its not windy its rainingYou don't know the meaning of Gaper until you visit this hillUsually have to put snow chains on when im driving my POS car up the roadVery little on mountain accomodation or servicesIt's 3 hours drive
But i love skiing so much i still don't care.

Stratton Mountain, Vermont:
Like: had a dope ass cabin to go smoke a couple bowls with a grill
Dislikes: they fuckin burned it down. now there are just the old remains of it to go to and a couple of wooden planks to sit on fuck!

i guess my biggest dislike of last year was when we had a day with 4 feet in 24 hours at snowbird and it was tough to get past the flat spots on the way out to the lifts without completely stopping because the snow was so deep. talk about a pain in the ass!

whitetail

Like: nothing.

Dislike: employees are dicccks. park is a joke. 50% of open terrain is ice rink ice most of the year. it is the closest to the DC area, so crowds are nightmarical. tons of gapers and hostile snowboarders who suck. park crew never does anything. maybe 3 or 4 dedicated park skiers.

Liberty

Like: the park is better than whitetail. not saying much. the crew that skis there is the only good thing. a few of them are on NS. all are super sick to ski with.

dis likes: pretty much the same as whitetail, but this is slightly more out of the way than whitetail, so the crowds don't get quite as bad, but they are still worse than most of you could imagine. again, park crew and lifties are mostly dicks and don't do anything. tons of gapers and the typical 12 year old burton billboard snowboarder who can't do anything and hate you because.. "you're a skier"

roundtop:

likes: the PARK IS ACTUALLY SIIIIICKKK not super good on the jumps, but we are in PA, so they do well enough. ton's of rails that are actually set up well, and kept up to pristine condition. there are also 10-20 times more park skiers at roundtop, then at the other mountains. steve stepp came from here. park crew is a ton of skiers, and they actually do work. overall a more ttight atmosphere.

dislikes: crowds, conditions, gapers.

like: largest ski resort in america

good BC

park crew

dislikes: hour away

$750 ski pass

small park(need more jumps)

BIGSKY MT

SR

- bad jump line, shitty pipe, lift lines

SR

+ jib park, chondola, night riding, cheap pass (800 for SR, sugarloaf, and loon)

- bad jump line, shitty pipe, lift lines

I'm guessing your referring to the Barker lift lines. The South Ridge lift lines are never a problem because you can take the South Ridge express whenever the Chondola is crowded.

Shawnee Peak -

Likes - Not very crowded, knowing where everything is, close to home.

Dislikes - Icy, Shitty park, Shitty park crew, Small, No powder, No terrain, park rats there are assholes.

Sunday River -

Likes - Jib park, Uncrowded Night Skiing, Chondola, fun, most people arnt assholes.

Dislikes - Can get pretty crowded, ice by the end of the day

Woods Valley new york
Likes: Fun little glade runs (even though woods riding is against the rules) We get 300" of snow a year cuz of lake effect
I grew up here, Ive only been to 3 other mountains, so its all I know
I basically run the place because Im there everyday, I know EVERYONE there

Dislikes: Management SUCKS, they dont know when to make snow Expensive food
Chris Olney, one of the owners. Fuck him
Season ends quick
Park blows
SKI TEAM
Too many rich kid poser riders, especially snowboarders
Only one slow lift
500' vertical

Spirit Mountain, MN

Pros-

Park gets better every year

French fries are amazing

15 mins from my house

Even when its crowded you can find lifts with no lines

A development project was announced this year, with new runs and lifts replaced, but over many years.

Very short drive to McDonalds

Night skiing

You can get a cup of hot water for 25 cents and make ramen

Chill lifties

Cheap passes

Nice view of Duluth

Decent size for Midwest

No skiing in the woods rule is not enforced

Relatively long season most years

Can ski through May on a pad built up for a snowboard comp

Good skier crew, some chill boarders too

Cons-

Food is way too expensive

Not much natural snow

Lifts are super ghetto, we had two break on one of the busiest weekends and lines were a half hour to forty five mins long, but I just went and hiked rails

WAY too many douchebag racers carving the park on race weekends, which is almost every weekend

Upper Management is retarded and unwilling to support the park, its mainly local shops that contribute features

Some "security" guys are the biggest dicks in the world

Lots of Twin Cities joeys and gapers on weekends

Owned by the city, so poorly run

Park isnt done til January many years

Some boarders are still assholes to skiers, but not too many anymore

Parking is a bitch unless your there by 10

varingskollen\norway

likes: sick park. evrybody is friends and push each other. fucking huge bigjump the last days in season

Wolf Creek Colorado

Pros

- Most snow in Colorado

- Family owned

- Locals basically own a section of the lodge

- Chill employees who know your name

- Powder is never more than a 20 minute hike away

- Easy access to backcountry

- Cool ski patrol

-

Cons

- Forest service "tree police" who search for stoners to ticket

- NO park (well ok, we have 3, 10 foot rollers towards the end of the year on a flat run)

- $550 student pass

Bridger Bowl

Likes: coldsmoke, good terrain, good backcountry, schlasmans, good cliffs, fries, crazy dirty locals, free food after 2 30 (with persuasion), not usually crowded, alone on the slopes, good ski crew, ,20 mins away, free ski bus, National ski area (not a resort), 350 inches a year, pretty cool ski patrol, cool lifties,

Dislikes: our parks a joke, tools, racers, crowds on saturday day pow days, slow lifts, snowboarders who watch you build jumps and then want to hit them, park being on the quad with no jumps, other people wanting to ski schlasmans,

Snowbird, UT

Likes:

10 mins away

Season pass only bout 270

Greatest powder in the world

Easy access to the entire mountain

Challenging

Can't ever get bored

You can ski right into Alta

Dislikes:

Crowded

Awful awful park

Tracks after fresh pow on groomers get so miserable

Dick ski patrol

People need to learn how to park (way too many double parkers)

Canyon ski area/ hill.

Likes: uncrowded, some nice people, delicious cheeseburgers, fun to screw around

Dislikes: only 164 meter vertical, one lift that really works, and hour away from home, shitty park, tiny, about 3 inches fresh all year, 90% of the time icy, made in a small valley, if i listed more you would get bored

ski roundtop, PA

pros:

best park out of the closest 3 resorts

5 mins away

park manager is skier

everyone is cool for the most part

cons:

ron hawkes (general manager)

Matt Weeding (think thats his name)

everytime you get on a lift they check tickets even if your the only person there that day

no powder or terrain

really slow lifts

they took out the jbars that you could sit on so you had to hold on to them

little kids carving down the pipe

instructors taking kids into the pipe and park to carve down them and get in peoples way

instructors that can't even go up a jbar without falling to get to the pipe so they have to stop the jbar and it takes forever to get to the top

Ski liberty (not really home mountain)

pros:

okay park

cons:

dick with a megaphone that says it my fault that on a box my ski hits the second polycarb sheet i here a loud bang and my ski stops and may or may not pop off

3 foot long boxes

crowded

Welch Village Minnesota..

Dislikes: 360 foot vertical, really super crazy icy most of the time, almost all the snow is manmade, absolutely full of racers on the weekends, management is completely gay to us, got banned for a week last year even though we work there, there isnt really even a park until january, ski patrols are like a small army all over the hill even on weeknights, lots of rochester and twin cities school kids in the park, gay ski clubs full of 5th graders, lots of foreigners who work at mayo clinic in rochester, the park could be decent but management is like scared to death of getting sued so they don't allow anything to get big at all, the comps are under super tight supervision with inverts not even allowed, way too expensive of food, and just midwest skiing in general which means no pow and lots of ice.

Likes: Night skiing, not many people on weekdays, not many people if its anything under 10 degrees-ish, big lodge area to just chill in and hang out, lots of stoked skiers and riders work there, skiers run the park, park crew is like 10 skiers and 1 snowboarder, all features pretty much set up for skiers, the biggest center hill was changed from racer hill to main park, lifties are pretty chill most of the time, really good fries and atmosphere at the east chalet with live music and fireplace and bonfires and stuff.

two fucking years they close with hella snow last season like 170 in and 140 this season fuck you Schweitzer
