Likes and dislikes about your home mountain

what do you like and dislike about your home mountain? my mountain is only a 15 min drive from my house which is really good, but our terrain park is awful and a season pass is like 500 bucks

Come to think of it, I don't really have a home mountain, but if you watch the traveling circus that has hunter mountain in it you can see some of the funny stuff you see at hunter sometimes.

i ski on a small hill in CT. 30 min away. small park 300 foot vertical. so much fun. so many freeskiers and everyone is chill with everyone. you can meet up with anyone with twins and ski laps on the park with them. the park crew is dope and work there asses off to keep the park as nice as it can be in CT and they still hold events where everyone competes and they have the best vibes.

My home mountain has a shit park. We have no high speed chairs and some chairs stop every 10 fucking feet. A lift tower on our park chair shakes. On a bright side. I have fucking powder. Fuck you easterners with nice parks, I have POWDER!!!!!!! Gnarly pillow lines, good drops, fun trees, nice and steep. I can ski fresh ALL DAY!!!!!!

i dislike the fact that the entire park is designed by and for snowboarders which makes things a little bit harder to hi. its a pretty dope park if everything works the way its supposed too but usually they fuck up cutting the jumps, they either make you overshoot your landing or undershoot it. they havent had a nice jump in a few years.

I have virtually no complaints about my mountain -- except that it closed in early April with 140 inches and fresh powder on closing day this year. Other than that, just the fact that they close the best chair on the mountain midweek.

I love my mountain. No liftlines, great powder, and awesome people. And dare I say it, there are some pretty cool events up there once the bullwheel stops turning.

likes:Not Crowded5 minutes awayOpen 9am to 9am every daywoods are good(when we actually have a decent amount of snow)
Dislikes:PARK AND GROOMING FUCKING SUCK

I hate that my pass is no good in the summer for mountain biking. Sure it's a "season" pass, but at my old home mountain it was good for winter and summer.

This thread would be a lot better if people mentioned what mountain they were talking about.

For example;

Breckenridge

Like: Best park, knowing it top to bottom, E-Chair, Mary's Nipple, huts huts huts...tight trees and sweet rollers

Dislike: Busy, pay to park, ummmm.......not that challenging

Plattekill

Likes: the kids pretty much own the place, we can get away with doing whatever we want, as long as we're not being assholes. Great tree skiing, mountain bike jumps in the woods, and awesome cliffs.

Dislikes: Slow chairs, management doesn't seem committed to the park, shitty coverage at times.

mount snow

likes: CARINTHIA (all park face), i ski for free, veryy commited to the park skier, varied terrain, dew tour, like 3 decent chairs, best snowmaking and awesome park crew

dislikes: main base lodge is too small for all the people it usually contains, rentals is a junk show, all but 3 chairs are so goddamn slow, not so good food, my boss is a bitch, the sundance lodge and the aids it has

Big Mountain(wmr)

Pros-lots of pow,no lift lines, semi decent park, theres a hotel with free hot chocolate and internet

Cons- park crew never works on stuff and if they work on jumps they make them worse, liftys are dicks, not enough night skiing

Mt. Holly Dislikes- 45 min away, park is dece, small jumps, crowded parks at times. Likes- park is dece, tow rope and lifts super fast and short.

Crystal Mountain Dislikes- Biggest jump 25 feet. Likes-30 minutes away, have a dece amount of rails, Not very crowded, Cool environment and people.

likes: fast chairs, good grooming, decent park
dislikes: mad people, gay patrol, only snowboarder park rangers (not a big deal), short parks

Sir Sams-[/i] I like the fact there are never lines, even on weekends with crowds, I like the fact the park has recently got pretty good for a tiny hill. I hate the fact I got in trouble for messing with the jumps, even though it was the cat driver not me. I hate the fact the ski school guy Dave Webb hates me, because I realize he has ruined the park by trying to fix it.

Toggenburg

likes: pretty good terrain park for the size of the mountian (700 ft)

a lot of freeskiiers

nice lodge (i guess)

ummmm.... Night skiing?

comps are never well run

dislikes:

no powder whatsoever

small size

Snowbird

Likes: Amazing terrain, i could never get bored at this place. Great snow. Almost all the lifts are high speed except for some like Gad 2 but no worries, it makes it so no one heads over there. Pretty big resort with a lot of variety in terrain.

Dislikes: For the most part I have no complaints but here are a few...: The park (if you can call it that) is pretty much non-existent and very shitty, only headed in there a couple times this last season. Not a huge deal because there are so much natural jibs everywhere but some rails would be nice to try. The management is starting to get uptight too this year. I got yelled at and treated like shit from some of the ski patrol (not saying that they are all bad but there are some bad apples) for not doing anything wrong. For example just going switch or popping off a little roller after scoping out landing and make sure no one is coming. Its not a big deal, it just is frustrating at times when you aren't allowed to ski how you like to ski, I'm not being dangerous just let me do what I do.

sno mtn in pa is gayyyyy

hate staff.

hate gabers

hate moms that think their 3 year old kid has more right to sit on a landing than we do to hit the jump

o and i hate the staff well only ones that make up gay rules

o the park kinda blows dick

Perfect North Slopes, IN

Likes:

One of the best terrain parks in the Midwest

Love my job/boss (Park Crew)

Know pretty much everyone

Dislike:

Pretty small, but it's Indiana

Food prices (even with 50% off being an employee, it's still expensive)

The massive amount of gapers/rednecks/joeys

They refuse to build a park and everybody who has a managerial position there is a douche bag. But the BC is steep, awesome, and gigantic.

Pros-

420" of snow a year

good large and good small parks

ok bc

Cons-

small

no medium park to try new tricks on

just to used to it, been riding the same mountain for 7 years, i know every run and have even discovered and named a few of my own

Mt Hood

Skibowl- Cons- too damn small, shitty excuse for park, shitty chairs

Pros- Awesome powder runs right under the upper bowl, pretty sick backcountry, awesome lifties

Timberline- Cons- crowded, flat as shit so theres no reason to go there on pow days

Pros- Awesome park, super long regular season.

But together they make the best combo ever with a really cheap season pass. Although it sucks to have to choose between the two, and t line road sucks; makes the drive a lot longer especially when the roads arent plowed well.

Mt. Shasta

Likes:

Small mountain. slow lifts. crowded few weekends out of the year. Janky park.

Dislikes:

Small mountain. slow lifts. crowded few weekends out of the year. Janky park

The same thing that make it great, make it horrible.

I also don't like the lack of snowfall last year.

Schweitzer:

Likes- Really fun terrain, 300+ inches a year, decent park, being able to use ARG's on a semi regular basis

Dislikes: HORRIBLE weather, 3 and 1/2 hours away...atleast, Net cost of trip is expensive, dangerous icy roads in ID.

mountain: wouldn't even consider that in any way.
dislikes: everything from the baby eating manager guy to stupid gapers who try to go in what already is a lame park. I don't even know why I go there it is so brutal but I don't get out to the mountains often

switched to mad river last year just cause its closer and for more rail/jib choices and you dont realize how much the gaper/redneck level goes up

likes: lots of snow, easy bc access, sick terrain everywhere, its rarely crowded
