dose any one here lift weights ..i want to start doing to but i hear you shouldent stary untill you 16 and iam 15 something about cancer is there any thing i should know before i get into it

lifting'll never give ya cancer. It might stunt your growth though. That's why they say not to start till you're 16. That said I've been lifting for years and love it, it's a good feeling.

go for it. Just make sure you follow a proper program dont try and be superman, you'll end up dropping a weight on your head and that wouldn't be clever.

I started when I was 14. It doesn't stunt your growth as long as you don't over do it and take it easy with the heavy weights. I heard it really does give you lung cancer though.

ya ur good to go man. i started lifting in middle school and im 6' if u do powerlifting movements like squat, clean, deadlift and stuff like that ur more prone to damaging ur growth plates due to the stress those movements put on ur body but i wouldnt worry about it

 
yeah i think it only stunts your growth if you take supplements like kreatine. BUt your like 15 dude, you need to be able to slack your jerking to once a week, you might want to wait to let those hormones stop raging

 
lifting didnt do much for me sizewise but I got alot stronger ive been lifitng for about 6 months and ive been busy for about a month and havnt lifted I already feel like a woman

true if u take it for long enough. if u only take it for a short time i dont think u should have a problem. my advice is just take protein and screw all the other stuff

 
just rember if you use creotine drink fuckin as much water as you can and work till you cant keep your eyes open.

the only reason you dont lift at early ages is because it causes your bones to grow weird since you are gaining muscle mass that u would not normally have. but 15 is old enough. i started back in 7th/8th grade for football, and that wass the whole team lifitng.

you should be good, just dont go too crazy with it right away and give yourself good recovery after workouts. and make sure you get a program from someone who knows what they're doing, cus if you just walk in there and start lifting without any real knowledge you wont do yourself any good

you'll be fine if you're 15. it's more like 13 or 14. you're not suppose to lift hardcore when you're younger b/c it can stunt your growth. at that time your growth plates are hardening and stretching. if you hurt yourself or over grow your muscles you can screw them up. basically, it's better to hurt yourself when you're older than when you're 12 or 13 b/c there's less to hurt...if that makes any sense.

whatever people say about don't take too much or too little creatine...don't listen to them. half of them can't take the time to go look up how to say it correctly. creatine is a thing to be taken in cycles. you're on it for a while then you're off it for a big, then reload...blah blah blah. whoever said you're suppose to drink a lot of water w/creatine is pretty much right. if you're going to lift seriously, you should drink a lot of water anyway. creatine increases the amount of atp in your muscles. the amount of atp is proportional to the amount of work your muscles can do at any instant. they tell you to cycle so you're muscles are constantly working and you're always obtaining benefits. same idea as changing up your lifting patterns so you don't plateau. if you do it right, it definitely works...just differently for different people. my dumbbell shoulder press over the course of maybe 7 months went from 3x12 at 35 lbs/arm to 3x12 at 55 lbs/arm.

check out www.bodybuilding.com even if you're not intending to lift to get bigger or even stronger...just maybe more fit...they have a ridiculous number of articles there which're really good.

all that cancer stuff is a load of SHIT i'm 14 an i lift everyday after lax for an hour or so. and it will only stunt you growth if you start dropping weights on your head

Weightlifting is a very good thing. Just don't get too much into the size game if you are into skiing big time because it sucks trying to 720 in the air when you are 200 lbs, I dropped about 15 lbs to progress in skiing. The most important thing is to follow a strict diet while lifting so you actually make gains rather than lifting for nothing. You will get the best gains out of low rep heavy compound movements (squats, deadlifts, bench press) stick around the 6-10 rep range 3-4 sets depending which exercise. Msg me if you want a good routine.

A 250 bench is not big. It seems big to the non lifting community but once you get into lifting you will see how it's not really big at all.
