LIGHTROOM JUST FILLED MY MACBOOK HARDDRIVE

Okay, so i was importing photos to lightroom today (30-40 images max), and it seemed to get stuck and 20ish minutes later i got a popup saying that my startup disk (Main HDD in my macbook pro) was full.

I freaked out, opened the "About this Mac" and sure enough it had filled my HDD from 500ish/750gb to 749/750gb.

It says it is "other" (not photos) and i cant seem to find them, any ideas?

Before you tell me "call apple", I did, the guy told me to delete some photos to make room (which doesnt at all solve the problem of having 250gb of unknown hidden files on my hard drive that i cant even find)

Adobe support was no help either,

PLEASE HELP ME I AM FREAKING OUT.

Dude Apple is so good and a bang for your buck company they have unlimited storage with the new MacBook and it's only 4000$ with the specs of a 600$ windows pc

For real man why did you buy Apple in the first place. You don't need to call apple all you gotta do is Google.

I don't know if this is the case for you but your HDD could possibly be failing. Better back stuff up and maybe run a few diagnostics on it. (Not sure on it but better to be safe than sorry)

I just had the same problem actually. I went to my "downloads" folder and moved it all to the trash and emptied the trash.

Damn, sorry for the derailment but I hate people like you. Literally, no one cares about your opinion on whether a mac or windows comp is better. You have no idea about this guy, maybe he is a music producer and his workflow revolves around being able to use logic? There are things macs are better at. They are overpriced, but that doesn't mean its the wrong choice for everyone.

(ps i realise you're probably a troll, I just couldn't not react lol)

install disk inventory x, it gives you a visual representation and groups files, youll be able to see what suddenly took up 250gb, and then make it easier to delete

I Will look into it,

THanks for all the advice..

Check your pictures folder in finder. When Apple put out Photos (in replacement of iPhoto), your computer migrated everything from iPhoto and copied it to the new application, essentially doubling everything you already had and wasting a ton of hard disc space.

Assuming you're now using Photos, it's safe to go to finder>pictures and delete the iPhoto library.

This has nothing to do with what you wrote about but it could be taking a ton of room on your hard drive. I just figured this all out last night and thought I'd share if it helps you.

Disk Inventory X is a life saver. I will vouch for its validity and usefulness. It was shown to me by a genius bar technician in the apple store and has worked wonders in managing my older macbook and extending its life.
