Lightest fat ski???

I'm rocking Pettitors rn and they are wayyyy too heavy, I'm thinking about custom Kartel 108's. I need the lighters fat ski out there, ideas? Softer is better
 
Pettitors are a very heavy ski. Thats what they are made to be....soft and damp. Light and soft usually means durability issues....but there are plenty of light skis out there. Depending in how light you are trying to go you can look at touring skis as well.

Light skis I can think of are the faction 3.0...fischer ranger....the salomon qst series...line mordecai is somewhat light too. Sub 2000 grams is when I start considering skis on the lighter side. I think the 3.0 is around 1800ish? For reference.

If you go more pricy the volkl v-werks series kicks ass. Dps carbon skis can be quite insane as well. But I'm guessing you aren't looking for this style ski.
 
Yeah, the Candide 3.0 is one of the lighter skis (~1900 g @ 186cm) in the class of playful , 105mm+ skis. I wouldn't call it soft though. And although I haven't ridden them, I don't think the Kartel 108's would qualify as soft either, based off what others have said (though maybe a custom tour layup would change that?). As mentioned above, the Mordecai is pretty light (~2100 g @ 186cm) and might be a better choice coming from the Pettitor, but hopefully people that have ridden several of these skis can elaborate on their experiences.

The Moment Bibby Tour might also be worth a look, but it's also not a soft ski.
 
Magnum Opus, Balsa/Flax "Cloud Core" that has been gaining traction and is very fun and not a noodle!

Head Kore 105 is 1850 grams in the 189cm and the Kore 117 is under 2000 grams in the 189cm length. Both have low swing weight yet are very damp and fun to ski. Usually skis that light get tossed around too easily or are only good for back country touring. These are stiff underfoot with softer tip and tails like the Kartel 108 is.
 
I have the armada JJ Zeros and for as fat of a ski as they are. They are quite light and they handle so damn well in any condition I've thrown at them. Definitely would recommend looking into them as well.
 
Surface used to make very light skis for their width if you can find any old ones rolling around the interwebs.

RMU makes some very light skis as well, for instance the Apostle 105 is a tad lighter than the candide 3.0, a ski that is often touted as one of the lightest (without carbon). Definitely look into them.

Lots of brands are starting to make carbon skis as well, but they cost much more. If you wanna go that route look at dps, kf, or rmu. You can find the bigger guys making similar skis as well. I wouldn't suggest going on3p if you want a light ski though, theit construction has always been a more durable, heavy one much like K2.
 
G3 Empire with 127 waist were like 1800g in 180-ish size, but they stopped manufacturing it couple years ago. New version is 115 underfoot and 1700g

DPS Lotus 124 Tour1 is something around 1600gr per ski

Yeah they are actually one of the heavier skis out there haha.

Kartel 116 is lighter than them. Nearly iden5icle weight to the pettitor

Okay.. their stated weight might be on the heavier side, but they feel light as fuck.
