Is light the absence of Darkness, or is darkness the absence of light?

yes true there is always light. so when you take it away there is an absence of it.

one time, at band camp i saw spongebob and it was funny
 
yeah no shit. when the sun goes down, it gets dark. when you turn off all of the lights, it gets dark. how could you even spend time pondering on this?

Thats not a rhetorical question. A rhetorical question is a question used as an answer or reply to a statement, rather than an actal legitimate question on to its self.

That was more of an attempt at a profound or abstract question.

darkness is the absence of light, because light can be measured but darkness is nothing and therefore cant be measured
