Liftline Discrimination and Styeroptyping

Ski Fernie during the week (other than like.. spring break and christmas). The scanner will usually check you once and thats it for the rest of the day. Love having the hill to myself. I don't blame them for checking though. I've heard some hills offer a bonus if they catch someone with a borrowed pass.

i know at my mountain, at least last year cuz the scanners didnt work, that if a liftie found a person with a fake old or borrowed pass they get $25. i know if i was getting $25 i would check everyone's pass.

plus if you were coming up to the lift like you own the place and like an ass id check your pass every time just to piss you off. beig nice goes a long way. have your pass out and it wont be a problem.

theres this super bitch lifty at brighton who took my pass after making me take off my goggles, helmet and then still didnt believe it was me when it was clearly my picture on the pass. fucking twat

my friend broke one of his poles once so we skied to the rental shop and the guy there was old and really cool so he just gave my friend some old huge neon poles that looked hella cool

so just look for a cool rental shop worker and maybe you could get some old poles for free

that sucks dude... but understand its part of a job...

think about it... a kid in jeans, and a POS jacket is much less likely to steal a pass, than a thugged out kid, who skis all the time, and may not always have money for a pass

almost complete opposite at my hill half the time you'll get checked once then they'll figure out your a park rat and just let you through because they remember you...dont be so hard on them its part of the job

They scan my pass every day ... its their job. if they cant see my pass to scan it .. they ask me to take it out. again .. its their job to scan the pass, and my fault they cant see it. Dont give lifites a hard time, if it wasn't for their lazy asses how would we get our lazy asses up the mountain.

i kind of forgot what the original thread was about but i would just read the lifties name tag and be like hey there bill hows it going. then hell remember you if you keep doing that and you wont have to get youre hands cold

That's funny. When I was a racer I would go for like a month straight without getting my pass checked. Always remember you can get on any lift if you're wearing a speed suit. "B-b-b-but sir, I left my ticket on my jacket and my jacket is at the top of the race course."

ya dude. i know i can get another bartending job whenever i want. i go to college and ski in the winter so i dont really have time to work my ass off as a bartender. you think bartending is an easy job but if your the only bartender it's fuckin rediculous. being a lifty is amazing though, i get to be up in my lift hut during golden hour, looking over the city of vancouver, everything seems like it just kind of stops in the world, it's incredibly peaceful, .

o ya on a sidenote, i work with this 35 year old guy scott, he's pretty fuckin loaded but just decided he wanted to be a lifty and snowboard the entire winter so that's what hes doing. has it ever occured to you that people just do there jobs because they enjoy them?

The only problem ive had with lifties is i was like "high five for that siicck run" and he bought it all hyped up, and i dropped it before he high fived me and sang "cant touch this" and he got reasonably mad.

that sucks bro..kinda weird tho u put ur ticket in your pocket....we get wickets!..i think thats what they call em.

i dont wanna stereo type against lifties, but all the ones at my hill look dingy as fuck, and douchebags for the most part.

shitty dude, well most of the lifties at my hill are chill as fuck, there are some douches but i just dont talk with them

ya its mainly the old fat bitch that works the gondola, and still, after many years, thinks the twin tips fit in the slots with a little force. and if you try to seperate them, sometimes they just slam them into the same spot.

or tip them in there. which makes them impossible to get out. half the time i just take them on with me now, its easier than dealing with them.

I'd stereotype park riders bigtime too. Freeskiers have a huge reputation for not getting passes and poaching lifts.
