Lifting supplements

I was wondering if alot of ns'rs are into lifting and taking supplements and where you get your info on it.

i read "muscle and fitness" every month it comes out.

i am taking. casien and whey protein. glutamine. bcaa's. a multivatamin. beta alanine and zma. each one is different for each part of the day.

what are yall into and what lifts do u think help your skiing

right now just protein, vitamins, and a pre-work out formula with a little bit of creatine in it, I used to take a lot more stuff.... most kids on this site aren't on supplements tho and will think we are roid fiends

im not, but some of my buddies are pretty big kids one of them throws up 400 on the bench (excuse my friend claim) but he uses some of this shit www.animalpak.com and says that its unreal so look into that stuff

i was fuckin hardcore into that shit for a few years but now i just eat well and take mutant mass (weight gainer protein whey) to give me the extra calorie intake i need. the big bulky dude trend is over, if you look at fashion and shit now everyone is thin and normal looking which is why i dont care about being massive anymore.

i can pretty much guarantee that if you take those you will end up pissing about half of the nutrients out. as for me i just take whey protein after my workouts. i used to take a multivitamin and fish oil but i guess i just didnt really care for that anymore and i just try to eat as healthy as i can.

I just take a protein powder called Pro-5 I do half the recommended dose before and after workingout. I think it's available online at www.nuteknutrition.com. That and what seems to be helping the most with my overall well-being is this cleanse called Detox-LGC. NOTICABLE results within two weeks and I didn't even workout for those two weeks. It Cleanses your Liver, Gallbladder, and colon over a 6 week period. The cleanse, protein and excercise lately have been feeling great. I only did heavy lifting in the baseball off-season.

most of the time i take supplements. I really like all BSN products(makers of N.O. Cellmass Syntah 6 nitrix. They are expensive but i think help a little and if u stack something they seem to work for me.

whey protein and a multi-vitamin

not trying to build mass but simply getting everything toned and building my endurance. so i go less weight and more reps/sets

ive been on con-cret for a while, cyto gainer, bcaa amino acids, probolic protein, and eas protein. I just started cycling T-Bomb II with all my proteins and con-cret

Shits wack. Best way to work your body out is without weights. Pushups, pullups, streatching, running, crunches, leg board. Getting bulky is gay. Makes you look like a fag and doesnt help out with strength in sports like skiing, climbing, wakeboarding, dirtbiking.

I feel like Iv'e been through it all but now I just eat a balanced diet and take Monster Milk (really good protein shake)

and to whoever said the bulky look is out is 100% right. Being fit and pretty jacked and stylish is def the way to go. I wouldn't want to be one of the huge meat heads that can't do anything athletic

supplements are exactly what their name implies... they are no substitute for a well balanced, high-protein diet. try eating 5-6 small meals a day rather than 3 large meals a day to help boost your metabolism and give you some energy. the best time to take eat as much protein as possible (most conveniently in shake form) is right after you work out (within a half hour). This is when your body absorbs the most protein to repair your muscles.

creatine is OK but i wouldn't suggest trying it unless you are seriously into lifting weights with a set schedule and routines you follow.

PROTEIN IS KING

I work out 5-6 days a week and lift on two of the days and the only supplement i take is a one a day multi vitamin. If you live a healthy lifestyle and eat a well balanced, healthy diet you really shouldn't have to use any of that stuff.

This isn't exactly supplement related, but once you've put on a bit of muscle and you're trying to get really lean / cut up the rowing machine is amazing. The trick is to keep a low stroke rate and pull like hell. Usually I do about 20 min when I go to the gym at under 20 strokes per minute. 500m split usually about 1:55 ish.

The reason why it works so well is it recruits a lot of your upper body muscles as well as your legs. Also, the low stroke rate means that even though it is aerobic your muscles are getting some serious resistance. Anyway, just thought I'd share.

The best thing for skiing is definitely working the quads and low back. I think those are the two most important to have strong come winter.

Diet is key. Don't eat carbs late in the day, eat many meals, etc. etc...

I just take multi-vitamin and an EAS protein powder that has casein, soy protein and whey protein in it...

pharma whey and creatine (pHd supplements) and then to get ripped for the beach or summer skiing i will also take a fat burner, just to get that chisselled look ;)

true but it does a lot more than that. you do put on a lot of size (water weight) when you are cycling that you will lose when you stop, but creatine helps you bust through plateau's and rep for longer than you could w/o it, thus helping you see greater gains. creatine is really only for the serious lifter who keeps a close record of the weights he puts up.

the worst part about creatine for me was having to drink buckets of water a day and pissing like a racehorse 10 times a day.

agreed and when u stop taking it and stop being religious about it, all the muscle becomes water weight (which means u keep the mass and the strenght, but u loss all the form)

Yeah dude I take gainer, whey protein, preworkout called CreaDyl (it's nuts), testosterone boosters, multivitamins, and some other stuff. I'm glad to see other skiers talking about lifting.

yeah but getting real protein from meat is much better than whey or casein. SUPPLEMENT. thats what they are.

klazo is right. whey is good but its not a miracle powder. it just helps your muscles recover nothing else.

tuna.

there are much more bad calories in whey shakes or casein shakes than a can of tuna or a lean chicken breast.

if you are seriously replacing meals with protein shakes you should stop that your doing it wrong.

lolwut? muscle mass won't just 'turn' into water. To all you guys complaining of water weight when using creatine, you are probably loading with way too much. I would take 3 grams a day and get no bloating. yea it takes a little longer to reach muscle saturation but it's worth it. anything more than 5 grams a day is going to make you retain tons of water and is more than what is need to provide extra phosphates to cyclic AMP.

guise... go drink a glass of milk. There you have whey and casein protein in that glass of milk! The point of protein powders is their convenience. The only time i would say you should definately have a whey shake is right after your workout because thats when your body needs the aminos fast to repair muscle tissue. You guys are acting like protein powders are some artificial growth hormone or some shit.

I'm not cutting meals. I still get 6 a day, and I try to keep my macros the same even when I cut my caloric intake, and sometimes I need more protein which is where casein isolate comes in.

good call. these protein drinks are derived from milk anyways.

for real, skinny dudes that want to get big drink a gallon of milk a day.

i really cannot stress how stupid/unhealthy replacing meals with protien/weight gainer shakes is.

But if someone is trying to lose large amounts of fat, don't you agree that protein shakes can help them lose weight faster while still being healthy? Aslong as they are getting their fibrous carbs (brocolli, spinach, greens. etc.) and staying away from starchy carbs (which is what meal replacement shakes allow you to do IMO) and taking a multivitamin and essential fatty acids.

What do you think protein shakes are going to do? incinerate the fat? Go do some HIIT or Complexes, eat healthy and you'll start losing.

protein doenst help you lose weight.

this is getting looked into too far. im not saying protein is bad or a waste of money. im saying that it is concieved like it just puts on muscle or burns fat or something, it doesnt. and it is not good to replace meals with it.

real food>powders/drinks.
