We all know being in shape helps skiing, but is being bulky and big detrimental to skiing? Just wondering what your opinions are

i think being tone is better than being bulky..i think basically jsut tone up what you have and start skiing and the rest will go from there....make sure to have your legs toned..my first day was two days ago and by the end of the day i had the worst charlie horse cramps ever

being bulky doenst necessary help i guess, but eh, check out the guys on the world cup, it seems to work for most of them!

well for ski racing it is very important to be fit and train during the summers and offseason, which i guess will also work for any skiing, but you dont need to be all decked out

yea you want to build strength but you dont need to be jacked and have a ton of muscle mass because you wont be able to move as well

being muscular def. helps for skiing, but even if not for skiing working out and lifting will only make you look better and healthier so everybody should do it.

I worked the fuck out of my legs for 2 months , 4-1000 pound sets 200 at a time. then i did upper body just because i was in the gym. im not biff but im cut and i feel great and my legs are healthy

The best way to lift for skiing is low weight, high reps. This will give you quick, responsive muscles that don't wear out easily. It's the way you lift for baseball or baketball, which demand the same types of motion.

its more important to be cardio fit than have big muscles. but you still should work out your legs like use rollerblades and shit like that

if I remember correctly from getting it drilled into my head in hs football, it goes something like this

you shouldnt carry more then 20 lbs extra BULK (muscle) then your frame should allow. you can google what your ideal weight is (a combo of height , body build, and age)

So say your 5'6 with broad shoulders (basicaly not a SKINNY build). Your ideal weight (healthy) is between 160-170. You can substain 20 lbs more muscle mass.

Once you get into heavy body building, and put more weight then you should have on, you become less agile, because you actually need more muscle to move your extra weight around.

Look at the NFL. your linebackers/running backs are some of the most agile athletes you can find, and in most cases, they arent giganically huge. Your lineman are massive, and they are slow

I may be incorrect a bit up there, cause im doing it from memory, but dont go crazy on body building for skiing.
