Lifties? Resort workers?

Just out of curiosity, how many of you work as lifties, work at the hill in some capacity, work offhill somewhere or don't pay for stuff at all with your own money?

As well as an ontario trapped skiier, (the horrible south) I was wondering how doable is the whole skibumming to the west thing?

im a golf caddy and a grocery bagger, min wage R.EP>RESENT!

it's very doable, get a job at alta. Scrub toilets at night ski all day and live there, free food/drink from the kitchen and you will ski 7 days a week, when the road closes (happens more often than you think) you will have alta to yourself

We pay our debt sometimes.

alta has sick skiing... but in my expeirance most of the time working there SUCKS! Ono is a fag as well as most of the other managers of departments. Alta is run by a bunch of close minded retards. Got my pass pulled for skiing "to fast" in a area with no slow signs with no one near me. Thats just one incident of many. Haha should i even mention my stories of trying to ski switch there? The truth i found is that at resorts that allow snowboarding the working atmosphere is way more chill. Buckhorn is a brothell don't work for the lift department. On the otherhand my friend worked at alta 2 days a week and they gave him a pass, thats the way to go.

also most resorts have employee housing. It makes living at a mountain pretty simple, anyone could do it. I found this out the hard way when i met my roomate who was from brazil, didn't ski or board, couldn't speak english and liked to eat all my food when i was sleeping. Good luck, they call it ski bumming for a reason.

i teach little kids how to drown...aka teach swim lessons

Got a job sorted out in Whistler for next season already - rental tech for Blackcomb Kids. According to the Intrawest rep that interviewed me I get a free season pass, half price food and a full 06/07 (yes 06/07) setup for $200 for the season, sounds a decent package. I'm working right beise a huge tuning centre too so hopefully that means I can service my skis for free too. Just waiting on my visa to come through then I'm getting employee housing arranged. Everyone says it's an awesome way to meet people, so it should be cool. And you can move out whenever you want so I might start looking for a house if I end up living with people I don't like.

I work at the Beave, working right now actually.

i liftied for t-line for a couple months this summer and it was a fucking waste of my time. while you may get a free pass out of working for the resort... work in a restaurant or something and get yourself some free food. seriously. then again its summer liftieing and you cant do shit so... i guess im the asshole.

i work in the ski shop at welch village (cause epople know where that is) its nice i get payed like a dollar more than the lifties and i dont have to do anything like one time at work i made one sale in four hours and one day i played 10,000 games of blackjack on my cell phone and yes thats the right amount of zeros

"if all your friends jumped off a clif would you?" -my mom "i would if there was snow on it" -me

Did Lake Louise as a liftie for a season. Pretty good job for a first season... I got a couple hours riding on break the days I worked too. Cheap staff accom there but you get paid very little. You make just enough to pay for your rent, food and partying. Skibumming is definately doable. Just get yourself out here early enough for interviews and all that mumbojumbo.

i worked as a liftie, ski instructor, coach, rental shop, and terrain park....you have to be able to work all over the place if you're going to make any money living at a ski hill....but its worth it, and ski town chicks are fun to play with!.....just wrap it up lol
