Lift ticket scalping?

I know that scalping tickets (resale of tickets at the location of events) is illegal in most states, but do lift tickets fall under these laws?
 
I did some time clipping tickets off tourists as they were coming off the mountain mid day years back while living in whistler. It's not allowed. If you roll up to a scanner and it doesn't look like the ticket is on the original jacket/pants they can deny you lift privileges. Also, depending on the hill the scanners give them a lot of info they can ask you like: how you paid for your ticket, what lifts have you been scanned at, what time you went up in the morning, where you bought the ticket, ect.
 
Some dude did this to me and my mother in the parking lot, came up to us with the whole wire clipper setup and everything, he just clipped it off and paid my mom $6 for it
 
I did this like 3 times this season already i just ask the person if the want to sell me their ticket for like 5 bucks. The tickets at my mountain have like these little plastic clip similar to zip ties And you can literally just rip them off. And each day theres a diffrent color plastic thing.So i have this elastic loop on my jacket and i put i through the hole on the ticket and just put it around.

So once the liftie told me i have to have it on a clip so i told him i keep them like this cause one time i lost it when i fell and they did refund me which actually happedned. So he just let me go.

I've only done it on vacation to get a few more days skiing in that what ive budgeted, and its never been an issue. At some of the bigger, more crowded CO resorts it took about 15 min max to get a ticket for free. Smaller areas offering a beer or $5 will work just as fast.

But remember when youre doing it you are reaalllyy hurting the ski area. They survive on lift ticket sales. So if your doing it at keystone, i wouldn't feel too bad, but maybe at say Sugar Bowl, you should try to find a way to pay for it.

Also it easy to do basic research before hand. If its some high tech 100% RFID shit, youre probably fucked. Find the area with the easiest tickets for the best results
 
Most scanners have a monitor for the lift staff to see the picture of the owner, and if a middle aged man shows up on the monitor while a skittles colored freeskier passes the gate they spot it pretty easily
 
I've done it. There are always people leaving by 11 am. If you don't get up before that and are broke as fuck go skiing. Bring some beer, some $, and some spare zip ties
 
The RFID scanners Brighton and many other ski resorts have now has to make them lose so much money. Since they just stay in your pocket you can catch people leaving early and just ask them for their ticket card and ski for the rest of the day.
 
they barely ever even scan tickets at my home mountain. I've only had to show them my pass one time out of the 10+ times i've gone this year
 
please scalp at heavenly so i can catch your ass and get $50.. but at any of the vail resorts there is no way to tell on day passes. but multi and season have all your basic info
 
I mean they could look up your stats for the day but they don't take down guest info but if you have a jr/Sr ticket and you're blatantly 20 years old you could get busted otherwise it just says "guest day ticket" or something similar
