Lifestyle Shots

Well here's the thing about what you're saying, its stupid as hell.

Reason 1. Those shots are usually called "fillers" and are used as transitions. Most of the time they're necessary to add something to the video. Key word variety.

Reason 2. It's nobody's right to tell somebody how a video or picture should be made. That's the wonderful thing about media, it's up to interpretation, you can always be taught HOW to film or take a great picture. However, you can't follow the same set of laws and regulations in every photo and clip you make.

Don't be stupid.

Your logic is totally flawed, without lifestyle an edit is plain and full of tricks wich would get extremely boring.

For people who are asking:

Broll - Shots that aren't banger enough and dont get used.

Filler - Side hits & silly things

Lifestyle - Artsy shots that help transition riders and what not.

Thats my 0.2 cents

lifestyle shots are whack unless its like someone hitting a gainer off a huge waterfall into a poll of water fully clothed.

I hate the term "lifestyle" because it makes me think of random glamour shots of the athlete that add nothing to the video.

Then again, videos that are 100% skiing are boring as hell. If I see 10 tricks in a row I usually stop watching, but that's just me. The so-called "lifestyles" that illustrate some semblance of a story, no matter how abstract or rudimentary it may be, are essential to any good video. For instance, a logically arranged sequence of different camera angles showing a rider dropping, doing the trick, riding away, and maybe something silly after. If all you do is disorient the viewer by showing trick after trick like a porno highlight reel, your video will be monotonous--esoteric at best.
