I was told that LibTech hates skiing still. They make some cool product, but i'm still sorta sketched on it. I heard they just made them to get a patent, and not with skiers in mind. Anyone clear this up?
They said that some of their workers just made a ski mould in their free time, and made some skis with the snowboard press. Libtech just ran with it an decided to make skinny ass snowboards.
yeah.. i know, i read that thing too....and i love snowboarders. i actually bash all the people on this site that say "its a skiing community" this is why i'm curious about this situation.
I skied their two main skis today at Mammoth and they are horrible. The tails don't dig in at all and they just skid around dangerously on hard pack. The 176 pair carved switch because the tip digs in but it would not carve regular. The 188 you have to lean all the way back on to dig in the tail an then it sort of holds for a long wide turn or two but in general is unskiable.
Skied them at stratton last week. They are weird, didn't notice the instabillity in a carve, but very slugish turn initiation. Also very sticky on rails, might just need a detune. Decent graphics, just not a good ski for what i look for in a ski.
yeah, there was an article in Powder about the serrated edges. i'd imagine the serrated edges would slow you down, but apparently they work really well.
it's not serated it's wavy, it makes it so you have more contact points with the snow, look on their web site it explains it pretty well, you can actually so it if you look at the SIA skis
no, infact the point is you can ride them detuned due to the fact that there is more pressure exerted over a small area on the edge(the crest of the edge waves)
