Liberty Skis

i want to talk about these in general,

our store just got them in yesterday and quite frankly they appear to be the shittiest twin we carry. not only are they stiffer than some race skis, the edges are coverd in epoxy. as far as i know they should have been through a grinder before leaving the factory to take care of that but i mean, c'mon, if someone is buying a $500+ twin tip they should at least be properly prepped before leaving the factory.

personally i'll never ski on anything from an independent company but i want to hear the opinions of other shop employees.

cheers!

i just skied on my pair today and they were sick, i thought they were going to be stiff as shit but i buttered and wat not pretty well, they held up find on the rails and were very poppy

what store i work for doesn't matter.

that fact is, the stealths, choppers and predators we recieved were a sorry lookin bunch

i believe that one screw up does not constitute not spporting indipendent ski companies especialy becausethat is where your in put is the biggest

liberty sucks period.

now, quick, everyone whos sponsored by liberty come online and post on how "bombproof" they are. GO GO GO

one screw up by libery, no it doesn't.

how about liberty recalling all the chopper skis last year

armada delaming like fuck 2 years ago

line delaming and pretty much falling apart

my loathing of independent ski companies doesn't come from one screw-up. it comes from several and personally if i were skiing on an independent company's skis and something went wrong, i would expect some kind of compensation. many people i know on independents have lost their season because of the long wait time when the skis were sent for warranty.

give me K2, Dynastar, Atomic, Salomon, or Rossignol any day!

What really sucks is that you make judgments about skis before you get out and ride them.

and if you don't like stiff skis, feel free to ride keep riding something like the pocket rockets.

There's no reason to hate on independent companies, there the future of our sport, if you wanna stick to your mainstream multi national corperations, fill your little booties buddy.

My shop is funny. What ever twins they carry a lot of people ride that ski or skis. Like my shop sells triplets, PEs, fujaitives, and solomon. And today I saw tons of people with those skis. (most of them suck. those fucking posers)

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, this guy finds established designs suit his style. He probably goes with the flow a lot. New designs and ideas scare this guy, hence Armada, Line and Liberty are in his "loath" catergory.

Thus, I stand by my position and suggest to everybody once again to try a bunch of skis before you buy a pair. Just cuz marketing makes it cool doesn't mean it will fit ur style of skiing.

Ur not gonna buy a car without looking under the hood.

Spinks

well i guess we can both speak of expireance the ammount of rossignol, and dynastar delams that i have seen is incredible i can't remember the last pair of trouble makers that i saw that weren't delamed and as for salomon i have seen several pairs broken in person

I am not speaking 4 or against liberty but standing up or the companies that are the future but neway you can have fun paying twice as much for the exact same ski as three years ago... all those companies still are using their old ski designs and rossi has been sued for it several times

maybe if you had a problem with the chopper last year, they did replace your skis.

and you keep talking about shit the happend 2 years ago, dude it's fucking 2006 (almost) you think Salomon was the dope shit in there 1st year of buisness? Sometimes it takes a bit to work the kinks out, nothing is 100% perfect on the first try.

And in fact most independt companies treat you better then the big dudes, you get personal service, and people that care.

Im sorry you have such bad experiences with independent companies. I really do feel sorry for you.

I have had nothing but great service, from a number of independent companies, as well as a number of people that i know.

oh ya i forgot to mentaion the amount of

K2 enemies is have seen delam and edges fall out. Dynastar - lets not even get started about troublemaker edges.

Salomon foam snaps too? no way!

Any ski out there will break and have problems eventually.

Nothing is perfect.

head is still an independant company, and their skis are bombproof - i haven't broken a single pair, and i've broken urban triplets in 2 weeks, and tm's in a matter of minutes

another exmple last year no one on the high society team broke a pair of skis while pete and mike o go through 5-9 pairs a year

I'm not judging the company overall, or saying anything about independent companies in general...I'm just saying:

all the Liberty skis I have seen have been poorly constructed, and both people I know who were on the liberty team last year, dropped Liberty as soon as they could.

im not really sure i see the point of this thread, except maybe that this guy should be fired from his store, as he is jabbing at a shipment of skis he has never set foot on. im all for giving honest advice to your customers, but that kind of attitude is very unprofessional. i can almost guarantee that you know very little about the products you are selling beyond the propaganda that the reps shoved into you in exchange for a some key chains and t-shirts. pushing skis for minimum wage at a chain store does not give you the authority to shit on one company or another.

by the way, it's not exactly a mystery as to what store you work at. i'm guessing t and l in ottawa. i'm not sure what to say about that, except that i would never refer any of my friends to you. furthermore, i'm sure that the buyers for your store would be especially stoked to find out that you were shitting on their choices online.

hmm, i'm intrigued by this. AS everyone said, just because a ski isn't from an independent company, doesn't mean its good. I broke my TMs in a day, and my 1080's turned to crap after 1/2 a season. They've been in the game almost longer than anyone, and still have problems. I'm pumped for independent companies who can produce a solid product after only a couple years. Liberty's line this year is definately a huge step for them. Last year they had problems, and they knew it. This year its worked out, and people need to give them a chance, rather than basing there decisions off of what they look like.

My choppers have held up better than a lot of skis out there, and are a really fun ski to ride.

the skis are a great ski...unlike last years ski which yes they were poorly constructed, but, were am amazing when they didnt break... this years skis are extremely durable and also very well constructed in my opinion... great on rails and great in powder... skiing switch/fakie/who the fuck cares what its call, the ski was so good.... well thats my opinion on the ski!

allright, not to sound like a dick, but im going to call you out directly pipe_munky.

first of all, don't act like you are the shit because you work at CORBETTS SKI SHOP. you really shouldn't talk without having anything to back up what you are saying. chances are ( and i could be wrong) you are 16-20 years old, working your 1st or 2nd season in a shop, punching in for minimum wage on thursday night, friday afternoon, and the weekend. just because your local salomon/k2/rossi rep leaves some bullshit pamphlets in the store's boot fitting room about the construction of their skis, it does not under any circumstances give you a right to comment about the merits of those skis vs any of the independent companies. chances are, you dont even know how to work 95% of the equipment in said bootfitting room anyway.

now to address Liberty specifically, for sure they are stiff, but believe me, they are intended to be. a ski like the stealth has a flex that can take you around the whole mountain. now according to your estimates, they are stiffer than alot of race skis. that is pretty big generalization my friend. what "race" skis are you talking about? are you using as evidence bode miller's race stock sticks that he carries around the world to compete on insane courses, or are you really talking about the tuned-down bullshit version that your store carries? same cosmetic, different ski.

ironically, liberty doesnt rip off its customers by sending the shops tuned-down copies of their top skis. what they sold to your store is the same ski that everybody on their team is on. that package of skis you guys got? they're alled pro twins for a reason son.

lastly, i wanted to make one more comment. your little screen name " cc..." or whatever, indicates that you are part of some crew called the capital city something something. but corbett's is in the toronto area, and last time i checked, toronto isnt the capital of shit all. you also mentioned something in your signature about center mounts and park rats, i can't remember what right now, but it was some smack talk. if you don't dig park skiing, then why the fuck are you wasting everybody's time commenting on the subject?

get out there and sell some damn skis.

off topic here....but why the hell hasn't Liberty gotten their website together, here we are at the end of Nov. and people can't even go on and see your products.

from what i have seen of liberty's stuff, it seems legit this year. i havent skied them yet, but i plan on getting on a pair soon. i also work in a shop, and have for a while now, and i would probably have to disagree with the starter of this thread about how he doesnt support the smaller startups. my shop doesnt carry 4frnt, but i found myself a pair of MSPs and paid full retail for them when i could have gotten a pair of volkl karmas, salomon pocket rockets, or some other similarly categorized ski for about $300 less than i paid for the MSP. i still think i made the right choice. sure, i broke the first pair of MSPs that i had, but i had a brand new pair at my door in less then two weeks. joe and matt at 4frnt have been nothing but amazing at replying to my questions and getting me my stuff back asap so i could get them back out on the hill. i've had to deal with other "more established" companies for warrenty issues and it was a nightmare. you just dont get the customer service from a bigger company that you do from the smaller startups, which is why i will continue to support line, armada, 4frnt, liberty, and all the other small guys, whether my shop stocks them or not.

"Center mounting skis is for little park rats that couldn't ski a blue square if their life depended on it!"

here its under his profile and i'll have you know my skis are prefect center and im far from a park rat you have some pretty gross generalizations pipe_ monkey

"oh shit, this epoxy left on my edges might not all sluff of after the first run of the season, I might have to... gasp... ski on them two runs before it is gone! what is this world coming to?"

I'm sorry, but I think Peter and Michael Olenick both rider a liiiil bit harder than anyone on the HS team...

thats a retarded statement..the whole hs team is in aspen and is the pete and mikes crew..the olenicks will be the first to tell you how hard all of those kids slay it...it has nothing to do with mike and pete riding "harder" than anyone

we got liberty in our shop this year. they are by far more stiff than any other ski in the shop, and we sell a lot of race stock. i also noticed the epoxy on the edges and it made me a little nervous. however i am pretty excited to ski them. i think its great that liberty is putting out skis that aren't the same as almost every other ski out there. hell yeah, can't wait to ride them.

These Skis are really nice, i ski the stealth, it's a real nice stick with tons of pop, with this "birdplate" they have in them, i think delaming would be semi-impossible seeing the plate covers the entire ski, give liberty a second chance, they got a real nice ski out there.

I have gone back tons of times to see any update. I'm not too upset though. the picture on the website is of my friend in Chile. You can also see the shot as a full page ad in Freeskier Dec.

ever heard of that little province called ontario, and dont say that ottawa is, cause thats the capiatl of canada. pfffffff
