As for background checks, I promise that you could not just go out and buy a gun right now without having to undergo one. The gun show loophole is not nearly as big of a problem as the media makes it out to be. Why don't you actually go to a gun show and see how many people selling don't have a FFL, that is if you can even find one where background checks aren't already required as a matter of policy. People shouldn't be denied their 2nd amendment rights based on the OPINION of a psychologist. If you want to deny people their rights then you better have direct and objective criteria for doing so. not opinions. I don't even think felons should be denied their rights unless they committed a violent crime. And you want people to know how to... disassemble... firearms before they can buy them? what the fuck does that even mean? There are so many different types of actions that your plan doesn't even remotely make sense. Just because I know how to disassemble and clean the bolt of my tikka doesn't mean I'm qualified to fuck around the gas tube length and port diameter in the DI system of an AR. Do we need to understand how the engines work in our cars before we can buy them? no. The military has such strict requirements because the lives of soldiers depend on their equipment functioning correctly.

Switzerlands government for a long time has encouraged and subsidized its citizens to buy and keep high powered guns in their homes for the very reason that they dont want the government of switzerland to have tyrannical power over its citizens. Look it up.

If you look at weapons related crime (armed robbery/murder) committed by white americans, the rate is about the same is it is throughout europe, which is to say, low as fuck.
