such a stereo typical view of what liberals stand for, and of who liberals are. you act like liberals don't appreciate hard work; of course they do, how can you get anywhere as a country with out hard working citizens? the vast majority of liberals, and people in our country, are hard working. liberals are not promoting the opposite of what they do, they are simply trying to help those in need, which is an act of morality. If you look at classic liberalism, which is what both liberal and conservative ideologies are based off of, you will find a lot of writing about the problem of apathy. it is clear that apathy is very bad for a society, and can be the reason why a society crumbles. both modern day conservatives and liberals understand this idea very well, which is why both parties set out to prevent apathy as much as possible. unfortunately, every society is going to include those who are irrational, and who do little to make things better for themselves. so what do we do, do we allow those people to live on at an extremely low life style, or do we simply let them die off? we can't let them die off for two reasons 1.) (the obvious one) it is immoral 2.) there will always be irrational citizens, so letting them die off is impossible. after understanding these things, we must now look at avoiding stereotypes when analyzing modern day liberal politics. you stereotype everyone that is receiving money from the government to be one of these irrational citizens. this is very wrong, and a big problem for many who oppose government funded social programs. lets say that your father, a hard working and respectful man, was no-longer able to work due to a job loss, an injury, or his business going under. hard work aside, he can't put food on the table. instead of kicking him under the buss, liberals show empathy for your father and your family, and will offer assistance until he can get back on his feet and provide for his family once again. with out the government, your entire family would suffer, hence society would suffer. say that the loss of income made it impossible for your family to afford to send a child to college. that child is now un-educated, and will not be able to benefit society to the extent that he was hoping to; a social program can prevent all of this, and have great benefits for society and the nation in the long run.
