Lib Tech Skis with MagneTraction what do you think

Has anyone ridden those Lib Tech Skis with magnetraction. I am curious what they are all about... I have ridden the T-Rice snoboard last season but I am curious about the skis... lets hear your opinions.

one of my buddies has a lib-tech board with magne-traction and he rounded the edges as much as he could and it was still carving better than his other board which he had just tuned. i don't know how the curvey edges would affect rails, but if you can dull them and still be able to hold edge, then it might not be a bad thing.
 
They rip...I used a pair for about a month (on and off) last year, and they were alot of fun. Super light and did not feel like a fat ski at all. One thing though, the effective legnth is alot shorter than the actual legnth. So buy the longest legnth unless you are 5'5" or under.
 
i was jsut about to make this same thread. does anyone know what shops will be selling these besides evogear?
 
i rode a magnetraction snowboard last year.. but there was like 2 feet of powder + i suck at snowboarding.. soo.. yeah. i want to try the skis though
 
The skis definitely carve up a pipe like butter.

Fire On The Mountain in Dover, NH is expecting delivery in late September.

 
I was just about to start a thread like this too. i just got a pair late last spring, so i haven't ridden them yet. but one of my friends was working at mervin and gave me the tour. the funny thing about the skis is that no 2 skis are alike. its kinda fucked. you know how they claim that they sell one ski at a time? not sure if that's working out for them. and they didn't know that skis are supposed to have mounting possitions, so they jimmy rigged a paper clip in the press and that's supposed to be center. but the pair i have, the center mark is about 3 inches different. And they told me that you have to mount on of the convex edge curves under foot to get maximum traction. which means that mounting them is going to be a bitch.
 
well, armada doesn't have accurate marks either, so that doesn't even matter, just measure it out, and it's not that hard to mount on a convex edge. i say it's a sick idea, wilson's rockin them these days and killing it.
 
dude, the convex edge is every 6 inches, so i'm either dead center, to far forward or too far back. And i got to pick my skis off the factory floor and got two of them to match up. if you mail order them, you may be in for a surprize. just letting you know. when they say that they're "narrow ass snwoboards" its not because they're too cool be a ski company, its to cover their ass.
 
mounting them isnt an issue...i dont know whats wrong with your mounting procedure...

ive mounted like 5 or five pairs and while the mark has been different every time, you can measure off the spot. just mount the midsole mark as close to the middle of of middle ridge as possible. then measure that off, and mark the same spot on the other ski. the midsole mounts do change a little with each ski, but the ridges are identical.
 
While I think the magnetraction concept is innovative, I'm a purist and feel that snowboard companies should stick to what they know best, and skiing companies should stick to what they know best.
 
it was at mammoth over spring break and it was about the 5th consecutive day of 2+ feet of snow, except it was really shitty visibility so nothing was open.. so i was like yeah sure we can trade for a bit
 
dude, i'm not fucking joking. my friend works at mervin and all the guys there were like "we have no idea how to make skis, no two skis seem to want to come out the same" some of thier 179's are bigger than their 183's and shit. i'm sure that once they figure it out, it'll be pretty sick.
 
they rock. rode them in AK on a pretty hardpack day. they cut into snow like butta. really fun to ride. never slid out or anything.
