Lib Tech, really skinny snowboards

I heard from a few snowboarders i know (one is sponsored by lib tech) that they are calling the skis they will be making "really skinny snowboards sold in pairs" so they dont lose thier "image"

can anyone confirm or deny this?
 
The edges are fucking wavy dude.

Freaking crazy shit.

And they are basicly what they call them. Skinny ass snowboards.

They basicly took thier snowboard design and narrowed it down, hence why there are wavy edges.

Its creative. I give them props for entering the ski market with an unproven technology.
 
its not a joke....theyre trying to stay with their snowboarder image. thats like armada making a snowboard and calling it "really really fatass monoski"

We really wanted to talk to one of the guys at Libtech who was behind the skis. We managed to round up one of their Skateboarders, but he wasn't really that enthusiastic about it. Apparently they're just really into innovation there, and willing to do whatever. The story we got is that they never really planned to make skis, but a few of the guys who work in their factory liked to ski. Instead of buying stuff, they just made new moulds in their spare time and pressed the skis out of the snowboard materials with the same technology. Then the company just decided to run with it and produce the "Narrow Ass Snowboards". They use the weirdest idea I've ever seen. Look super closely at the edges underfoot, and you'll see they're wavy. Apparently it increases edge grip, and helps maintain edge even after rail damage. The guy who we were talking to said he used it on their snowboards, and it rode super sick."

pretty stupid that they care that much about their image. i wonder what skiers will think before buying them

they would be horrid on turns, and anything BUT rails, even then a little edge damage could lead to cataclysm for you
 
from what i hear, magnetraction works hella good on the snowboards. I think tho, that skis have plenty of edge grip anyway without it. that said, i would kill to try these skis. Libtech is amazing.

The sidecut thing theyve got going on with the small contact length for a long ski looks like a similar sidecut to what Zag put on their skis. Some people like them and some people dont.

Its not like anyone really thinks they are snowboards. They ARE making skis, they are NOT snowboards. It has nothing to do with their image, chillllllll.
 
Well since this is a side project im sure they could give a damn weather or not we like that they call em narrow as snowboards. Its like if armada made snowboards. And the people that work and design shit at lib tech are a bunch of niggas on crack, no joke
 
what the hell are snowboards? i thought it was just a really fat ski. honestly if thats true that is the most ridiculous promotional move ever. I doubt its true tho
 
aha yess. Eric Pollard decided to make a 180mm concept ski, but sold the idea to jake burton. then he threw one away and called it a Snowboard.
 
I met a kid who tried a pair out and he said they turn really well on ice due to that wierd edge technology thing but idk if I like how they call them skinny ass snowboards but w/e they are fueling the idustry I geuss
 
Joke or not lets be serious somewhere and call em skis... cant find that word anywhere on the site and they sell them in singles as well(Actually not a bad idea) all in all id try em out but they seem like they r just dickin around with the idea...

Id rather put my money into a company whos putting their time and effort 100%
 
Skied them at the Stratton Demo a few weeks back...

...The problem is this, Their tip profiles are so big, a 176 only has 135 of contact with the snow...a 188 only 150ish.

So it skis very very short on snow, very very long in the air, and very very not grippy on groomed stuff.
 
i saw them the other day they look really scrwey but r quite beefy and i heard teh magne traction thing is sick
 
has no idea whats happening...

but i dont know if id buy them or not. they seem like theyd be good, but with the attitude they have about it, not just the name, i dont know.
 
wavy edges seem like a recipe for disaster when it comes to rails. unless youre perfectly flat on your bases youll catch edge and die
 
Yea my friend has the Dark Series board with the Magne Traction and he really had to detune it a lot before he stopped catching on rails and dying...
