LEXAN

puck board thats the stuff you say does it slide good ???? and if it does where do i get it

lexan is different than puckboard. If you have a hocky rink anywhere near by, see if they have replaced/will be replacing soon, their puckboard, and if you could take the old stuff.

Lexan you should be able to get @ homedepot. They didn't have any at mine, but you might have better luck. It's hella expensive.

...wow i just said hella

puckboard=plexiglass. lexan is very expensive. instead get HDMW (or some acronym) Polyeurathane from US plastics. itl be cheaper, more durable, easier to work with, and will slide better than lexan

HDPE is what you want. High Density Polyeurothane I think. My friend and I are using it on the box we are maxing now, its less expensive than Lexan, and has a slippery quality to it, moreso than most plastics.

to anyone in mass theres a store called modern plastics in springfield take the trip and get one of these plastics: HDPE=what most resorts use. AKA puckboard, its white and smooth, also used for cutting boards. but thats a rough kind. hdpe is best. hdpe stands for high density polyethylene btw. not sure about UMHW but i hear it behaves similar to hdpe. pvc sheet is great but is not used at many resorts because its not as hard as the other two options so it will be groud down after continuous use. Lexan and plexi-glass are very hard but do not slide as effectivly as the other three options. if you wax them then they will slide fine though. lexan is super expensive and shouldnt be used unless you buy it in a very thin sheet and use a high quality glue to hold it down to a plywood top. i say hdpe. just search the internet for any type of plastics store or plumers store in your area.

1/4" seems a little thin to me, but i've never made a box. Anyone else have success w/ 1/4"? I thought the stuff at the mountain was atleast 1/2-3/4"

oh yeah, and how much was the shipping?

ya the stuff at the mtn is that thick because think of how many people hit it. 1/4" thick is fine, you really only need it thick enough so you can countersick screws into it.
