Leviathan Gap

at first i thought this post was kind of pointless but then i realized at 25 they zoom in on leviathan? never noticed that after seeing this llike 20 times. good find

On the back of the cover of Tee Time it says 145+, if I recall correctly.

Jackfunnell:

It's Leviathan (like the big, biblical sea monster), NOT Levinthal (like Jason Levinthal, founder of Line Skis).

i would be down to build and hit that if im living in Utah next year, im either going to go to school at MSU or U of U. not even kidding, if i go to school in utah i want to hit all the gnarly gaps in the 4 years im living in the lower 48 (maybe not chads out of respect for tanner), i know there would need to be a big crew for something like that tho, and i dont know anyone else haha

That's a very big claim you're making dude. You seem like a sick skier but have you ever hit something that big(or close to this size) ? I'm not calling you out or anything. Just asking. But go for it if you can that would be sick !

newschoolers has proved once before that its possible to simply say your going to hit chads and follow through with it. i say go for it if you actually mean 100% what you say.

and the jump looks a little flat too. looks kinda like a step down launcher. but that guy in the video might have absorbed a lot of lip, explaining why he popped back like he did.

im not going to preclaim doing it for sure, but if the conditions were right, and we had enough people to build a big enough jump and slide a run in before it all gets destroyed by rain or snow or something, then yeah that would be way sick.

the hardest part would be getting a crew together like KC said. it hard to get enough people stoked on gnarly gap without a lot of hang time, with high risks if you come up short, also with kind of a flat landing (which i dont think would really matter when you have that much speed).

we have an area up here in juneau alaska that my friends named grizzly gulch haha, because it does have a place you could build a jump very similar to chads, kind of like this jump tho, because it would have about 20-30 feet of step down, but it wouldnt be quite as big. the landing would also be very similar to this one now that i think about it, on the flat side of ideal. last spring me and one of my friends wanted to build a gap on it, but couldnt get any other people that wanted to, so we filled in some snow on the transition and seshed it like a really lippy really tall booter. its also right below a avy chute, so conditions have to be prime in a lot of ways.

hopefully this year we can get it together, i think it would be about 90-110 foot range, but equally bad if you came up short.

A+ thread. That clip is so sick, but how the fuck do you fly 145 feet and still under rotate a back flip? It looked like everything was going great and then the polio weed kicked in at about the 105 foot mark.

the biggest distance wise jump i know i could claim would be a couple summers ago when i was at momentum, the big step up/over that turpin went for the triple on, and i know there are lots of skiers that could throw down on that way harder me. but i was boosting that step up a good 15+feet past the nuckle a few times. i was with iannick b and he measured it out to about 110 feet. that was the first day that that jump was built, session 2, before the pushed the landing closer to the lip.

but i also had the advantage of following dorey the first time for speed, i know that any bc gap would be way gnarlier, expecially for first hit.

MFM won't do anything. Just park somewhere and hike, no one can stop you. For safe measures pack some heat lol. If someone does hit it i demand video!

haha, i know exactly where that is. Everyone hits a stupid little jump onto that same landing, but nowhere near as cool as that gap... that landing is flat as fuck anyways

I watched the video again. That thing was at normal speed and I

counted to 2 Mississippi slow. I'm not sure what you've checked out up

there, but that guy was in the air for over 150 feet. The only back flip I've ever seen that was bigger than that was done by Shane McConkey and he had a parachute.

i'm with collin on this one, i don't see why anyone would ever want to hit that.

fuckin xxxxxxxtreeeeeemeeeeeee!!!!!

First thing is its a huge step down. That makes it probably somewhat more even with Pyramid. Thats basically straight across, all those pictures are of pyramid by the way, including the circled one. The screen shot isnt but. No one will mess with you who do you think MFM is Montana guys go down there and hit those yearly and get no shit. Ive never even been talked to, the worst you will get is someone said they were there and saw you and talk shit on NS. Last time I was up there I built a big step down then hit a QP with the Nikita japan team and everyone was down. No one give a shit what you hit as long as you dont use their jump.
