Level 1 Summer Internship

damn, 40-60 hours a week and unpaid? I guess it good if anyone out there is really serious about getting into the ski movie industry and needs some experience.

although that is a major foot-in-the-door for anyone who wants to get into the industry, and im sure there are tons of kids who would love to do this.... BUT seriously berman, make this a little bit more attractive for your potential interns... 60 hours a week, unpaid for a whole summer? thats a huge sacrifice for anyone to make

so i would love to do this, but i kinda suck at photoshop. but i live literally 10 minutes from the level 1 hq so i can easily put in tons and tons of hours doing random shit for you guys. any possibility?

the ski industry isn't for those out to make a quick buck. do it cause you love the lifestyle. you basically have zero expenses all summer long, and learn a ton....

if you are going to school/ want to do something with film then this would be good on your resume and such. otherwise, mehh

dude, no offense, but i hardly think he's having any trouble finding enough applicants for this, regardless of how unattractive it is.

We're not actually looking for slave labor- even if it sounds that way!

All we're looking to do is find a talented, hard working person who wants to exploit what could be the single best opportunity for an immediate foot in the door of the ski industry, and get a ton of hands on production experience that they probably couldn't, or wouldn't get anywhere else. Speaking from experience, the majority of film industry related internships out there are completely unpaid, and more often then not involve little more then making coffee and organizing file cabinets. What we're offering is actual, hands on, experience, which is worth its weight in gold to the right person.

If the idea of 40-60 hours of work per week, paid, or otherwise scares you away, then simply put, you're probably not cracked up to be involved in the filmmaking/production business. For anyone that's ever worked on a film project before, they know what's involved. For those that haven't, well...

And while we're not offering payment outright, past interns have been thrown nice cash bonuses for their hard work, and for what its worth, 3-4 months of free rent in a very comfortable house, free food, and piles of free gear is much more compensation then most other internships offer, especially in the film business.

Good luck!

Yo Josh B. I don't think it sounds like slave labor, it sounds like a good deal. I seriously would do it, but I have a tuition payment coming up, and I am not saying that because I want you to pay me, I know that this is a pretty standard deal, and since I need the cash I just won't apply, if I were in a different financial situation I would totally apply. Maybe next year! Good luck to whomever gets it!

i think everyone took my comment a little different than i intended... I no doubt understand what goes into a film productions company, and yes it is a ton of work, and doing it for a company like level 1 would be an opportunity like no other. I understand it is just like any other unpaid internship(in the long run probably more rewarding also) but all I'm saying is that as a group of poor skiers, some sort of compensation would probably be much appreciated and would most likely drive a more talented potential pool of applicants to the position than you would get without any sort of compensation.

Imagine how super popular in the ski world you would become.......intern at level 1, im sure the big name pros that you love so much would be visiting often.

Like half of my friends here at the U are film majors... you guys should hop on this shit! I'd apply if I didn't have a job lined up already.

im super interested but live in illinois which is my downfall, i think i could offer a lot but have no way of affording to get out there. suuuckks

i can't beleive some people are complaining about that oppurtuinity it's sick, if i wasnt selling fishing gear all summer i'd contemplate this!

how about you ppl decide if you want a dream job or not, make a resume and send it in.

since this oppertunity is the coolest thing since sliced bread

Ahhhh, I so wish I didnt have to make so much money for school or i would be all over this!

aka you'd rather take a boring job selling fishing gear and making money, than a job with level 1 making nothing. And to whoever said welcome to the ski industry is retarded, there wouldn't be an industry if everyone worked unpaid. If you work on and edit a movie, you get a cut of final sales and profits, it wouldn't work any way else.

I will say this, the only way I can see this job getting taken is if someone REALLY wants to work in the film industry and needs the experience, in which case this is a great opportunity!

Dude, it can't cost that much money to drive out to Colorado. Unless you don't have a car. In that case, a plane ticket probably isn't even that much. You'd have a couple months to save too.

People are taking this out of context.

It's a sick opportunity, better than a lot of other internships, so if you like it go for it, if not, then don't. it's really simple.

if you DO happen to need someone to get coffee, i'm here! hahah i have no desire to be stuck in midcoast maine for the summer.

just an example of how young these kids are...

somebody needs to give josh berman a fucking high five for being the ONLY film company that does shit like superunknown and this internship stuff. hes holdin it down for underground killers on the ski AND production scene. so sick.

agreed, my dream job is working for level 1, but i dont have much experience in the adobe suites and final cut yet.
