Letters for Noah. (READ ASAP)

I just wrote to Noah this morning. Won't you consider sending a letter of support too?

"My son Noah is 12 years old. On February 8 he will be 13. A teenager at last. This past weekend he posted on his Instagram account that he was planning to commit suicide on his birthday. He also posted images of his arm where he has been cutting himself for the past two months.

Noah has been dealing with bullying for the past year. He has been feeling alone and left out, ostracized from old friends and a misfit among new kids. Things begin to get better, and then another setback. He was once the life of the party among his friends; big man on campus at his first elementary school. Now his self esteem has disappeared.

Noah has been in therapy. I have been doing my very best. But he is in pain. I can't do this alone.

Noah is getting treatment in a hospital now. But it is still not enough. He needs people to rally. Which is why I've created this page, Letters for Noah. I thought of it last night in the ER when I couldn't sleep. Noah needs to know that He Matters and that It Does Get Better. So many people have been asking me how they can help. Well, this is how:

Today I opened a P.O. Box. I am asking you and your kids to send Noah letters with a message of hope, telliing him not to give up. Help him see that He Matters and that It Does Get Better. Please send your letters to:

Noah

P.O. Box 444

Simpsonville, Maryland 21150

***I would like to get as many letters as possible to him by his 13th birthday on 2.8.2013.***

Please feel free to share this.

Thank you all so much for your love and support.

xo

Karen"

I don't think 4chan is that low. they only fuck with people who instigate it usually.

No one ever sent me letter when i was slitting my wrists. obviously he just wants attention if he posted it to his instagram? feeding the suicide troll

I wouldn't have worded it so harshly, but yes, a lot of people go through the exact same thing, and no one gets letters.

just sick of seeing these young ass kids go through this online bullying shit, like get off the internet? Go outside? Don't suck on tampons or brush your teeth with your shit or add people that are rude to you? Kids these days.

okay everyone always bitches about how not everyone gets the same treatment.

Well will not helping save this one kids life help that cause?

no

It will save a life.

Better to save one life then to let him die because "its not fair to the others"

seriously, kids are such fucking pussies

Well if it really is from his mom then it probably isn't an attention seeking attempt. Also, last names aren't included and their address isn't even listed. I'd say this is real, or someone trying to fuck with whoever has that PO box, but that'd be really low and unlikely.

Nah ill stay right here. I have no respect for people who kill themselves, its the most selfish thing you can possibly do. And i see no reason why i should idolize these people.

pretty much.

if you post something like that on instagram, you obviously want the attention rather than death. he did that because the cutting himself wasn't getting enough attention about his mental state.

life isn't a fucking popularity contest. thousands of letters? is that what it takes?

neither do most people, doesn't mean you should make an ass out of yourself by trying to humiliate a deceased person.

Well don't we have a negative Nancy over here. I'm sure she's seriously concerned about him and is doing everything in her power to make him happy, so she resorted to this. Depression isn't something that can be "taught" not to do... It's a mental disorder, not just a state of mind.

It may be partially her fault that he's depressed and it may not be. Hell, it may be entirely her fault. The fact of the matter is that there is a chance that this may save his life, and she obviously doesn't have a better solution. If your son was going to die, whether it be from suicide or not, would you not do every last thing you could to save him?

And if I'm being trolled, idgaf. I don't know the kid. I don't know if he actually is depressed or is just doing this for attention, but from the looks of it, it looks serious. To me it does, at least.

I don't think he's maliciously humiliating those who have committed suicide.... Nor is he making an ass out of himself. In fact you're the one looking pretty silly right about now.

i just read the damn thing again and no where on there did it say he was cyber bullied... it just said he posted pics. I'm staying neutral but i don't know where the fuck the cyberbullying argument in this thread came from... bullied in real life =/= cyberbullying... smh smh

You do what ever it takes numb nuts! Anything to save a life, especially a kid who is 12 years old! Suicide is selfish, but do you think that is what is going through the persons mind before he or she kills them self? Depression is a very real thing, it is a disease and anything that can be done to help a person over come their depression is worth it, whether or not it comes from people they don't know, or 1000's of people on the internet. Attention? Tell that to my friends aunt and uncle, who had to bury their 16 year old daughter because she committed suicide. Don't you know when a person makes jokes, makes posts on the internet, about suicide, that it's not always about attention. In fact most people who commit suicide often make comments about it prior to happening.

Last year my younger sister was admitted to the hospital because she wanted to kill herself and was self-harming. My whole family was a mess, especially my mom. She tried to do literally everything she could to make everything better, but obviously it was impossible because it wan't something she could fix. I completely understand where this parent is coming from, though. They want letters because they want the kid to see that there are better people out there and that as you get older, there will be people who will accept you. The letters are meant to show the kid that there are people that, even though they have no idea who he is, care about Noah. I'm not saying the whole instagram thing might not have been for attention, I think it was. I think it was legitimately a cry for help. I had an absolute shit childhood until high school, and am on meds and go to therapy now for depression. It's terrifying to come out and tell someone that you have these feelings, or at least it was for me, so posting that may have been him hoping that someone would see and do something.

Try not to just jump so fast to your shitty conclusions. You need to live through this kind of shit to understand where the parents are coming from.

Well the way you're reacting to this really makes it seem like you're cold to this topic. Just try to imagine if it was your kid slashing his wrists and planning on killing himself.

I am sorry you were going through that time. But I feel like that you had no one there for you to help you through that time of sorrow and hardship. So you have no guilt for the kid and just wish that you had the emotional support during adversity. This kid really needs help even if he is a troll. Your as important as this kid and any other kid and no one should be wanting to kill themselves.

there are a lot of threads that are worthy of being/deserve to be turned into shitstorms...this doesn't seem like one of them

So whats your definition of Sad? Whats your definition of depressed? Whats your definition of happiness? Man you are truly one cold mofo. The kid is 12 YEARS OLD!! How do you know what fixes depression? And how do you know what would make the kid happy or feel better. You my friend are a very naive person, and closed minded.

I also would like to say I feel sorry for this kid regardless and I hope he finds his happiness like i have found it in skiing.... i love ns

maybe it is a real chemical 'depression', but that doesnt prove against the point that our culture is so fucking over-sensitized that its nearly impossible to go an entire day without insulting someone or some group of people.theres this new idea that everyone needs to be loved and helped in every way, and kids (possibly like this one) take it for granted that they need that help. The struggle to better yourself by living through hard times and manning-the-fuck-up is getting lost under a big pile of glee and blackberry commercials.

Ohh you'd be surprised.

My 13 year old twin siblings both have instagrams and have more followers than me (I have about 150, they both have over 300), because everyone in middle school follows everyone in their school just to get the numbers, not because their pictures are even remotely interesting. My little brother actually posts some funny/amusing pictures though and rarely gets less than 50 likes on his pictures...

Came here to post something similar to this. Such a joke what kids are doing these days due to the most ridiculously little shit.
