LET'S INVADE MEXICO??

And while we are at it since we would invade we could take over parts of it to just be America so all the tourists could go.

no, what would happen is we start chasing a handful of guys who are supposedly in charge of cartels around the mexican backcountry where they know every fucking pebble like its their own asshole and we are lost as shit. it ends up turning into a huge shit show and we end up sending troops into columbia, panama, venezuela, and mother fucking belise just because there might be some chance that one of the brownies we are looking for happens to live there. then 7 years later we realize that we dont stand a goddamn chance because weve been digging around in the desert for the short mother fuckers while they all moved to turkey and are sitting back laughing at us. then we realized that we just added a couple more trillion dollars to our debt but trying to use our army to fix a problem that legalizing pot would have solved anyways.

Haha, I think this is possibly the first time I have seen anyone actually swayed by a conflicting argument in nsg, +k all-round.

The thing about the drug war is that there are no rules in this war, the drug lords and czars don't give a fuck if it's the cops, the feds or the military that's after them. They're in this "war" for drugs and money, they have no ultimate goal to win a piece of land here, or take the capital, unlike the people against them.

It would make no sense at all for the US to invade, as there is no clear solution yet how to end it. At the moment, there are three sides in this war - government, criminals and civilians. The criminals do not fear the government at all as they are probably better stocked as an army than the Mexican military; the civilians are struck by fear and end up cooperating willingly or unwillingly as their sons and daughters are kidnapped into the sex trade or recruited as soldiers; the government is chasing the golden goose.

I've thought about the situation for a long time, and while not a military strategist, I don't see any clear way out of this horrible mess.

Probably because he realized his original argument was new levels of retarded.

^Mike-O you're thinking too hard, legalize drugs duhhh.

Yeah I've never really thought about it that way. They have two pretty different objectives. So invasion is out the window.. But even legalizing drugs may not be a great option because would it really stop the violence in Mexico? They wouldn't just dissolve because we don't need to buy there illegal products anymore, they would still control the market because there would still be a demand for these drugs. Plus even if the demand for their drugs is somehow eliminated they would probably just turn to other forms off illicit money-making like more kidnappings and shit.

We just need to beef up our boarder security, more agents, more surveillance and possibly a wall. Let Mexico work its own problems out, we are not the world police. Oil production in Mexico peaked a few years back and is in a steady decline. Once they run out of oil the country will be in a whole new world of hurt. We don't need to be occupying a country that is essentially becoming worthless.

The weed you bought and are now stoned on, probably from Mexico. Unless you know the grower its highly likely to be from Mexico... and now you're banging on them? Look, the drug issue is not their fault, its ours, they're supplying our demand. Without demand, there is no supply. I think its pretty disgusting that you have a problem with having a small amount of our troops in Mexico fighting and dying for problems you and millions of Americans cause. Learn up.

what is this? educateddiscussion.com? all you fuckheads need to shut up becquse you clearly have ni clue what youre talking about. this mawfuggin nsg and lets invade this shithole because the us always does. #seriousness

Damn dude you're really, really "naive". Do a bit of reading on this issue, please and thank you.

Legalizing drugs would significantly reduce their profit and thus the violence. The violence occurs because of the illegality. Sure, after the end of prohibition in the US there were still criminal organizations, but the amount of people involved dropped precipitously and the violence decreased immensely as well. Drug lords in Mexico wouldn't be able to compete against genetically engineered weed crops. Violence doesn't get you anywhere in a free, or even free-er, market. There's a reason the Bloods and Hells Angels aren't competing with Anheuser-Busch. The gangs might stick around in Mexico, but without the massive income they get from drugs they would be relegated to relatively insignificant criminal activities. However, the "War on Drugs" which is actually a war on people, it's silly how we have "wars" on inanimate objects, won't end until the government runs out of money to pay for it. It's currently making far too much for far too many people for them to even consider ending it. Violence in foreign countries is only bad when it affects the pockets of the politicians and their corporate partners.

My weed certainly isn't from Mexico... And wtf have a problem with small amounts of troops fighting? What are you talking about?
