So I just finished watching this documentary on CTV (or something like that) about the Maritime seal hunting that goes on, and I've got to say...WHAT A JOKE! I can't believe how out of proportion they've blown this situation, to the point of having so many social and political leaders, and not to mention celebrities all over the place (as well as throngs of protesters) combatting this thing. Have any of them eaten meat in their lives? I think so! How fucking hypocritical! Do they not realize that the process to produce their meat products involves exponentially more "pain and suffering", more inhumanities, to their beloved animals? Those seals live their entire lives in their natural habitats and then their lives are ended, for the most part, swiftly and without much fuss. Is that so much worse than sending an animal that has lived its entire life in a tiny cage, methodically fed rations, and then slaughtered (brutally, at times, check those PETA videos....biased, but whatever)? And then after all that, go out and watch a nature documentary! That's how the world works! Beings kill other beings for subsistence. Those people that kill seals actually make use for the animal. Maybe if they weren't so cute and fluffy people wouldn't care so much....

I was just fairly disgusted with the whole thing (that involved Paul McCartney bitching at lenght on some pretentious tangent) and I felt like commenting here....late night boredom strikes again!
 
wtf are they planning on doing with all that seal meat that they butcher, like honestly when have you ever eaten seal...
 
in my time i've found that ending the day by smashing the skull of a baby seal is the most satisfying and sexually arousing way to do so
 
if the seals were the ugliest animals on earth, but at the same time had the same coats no one would give a shit.
 
The amount of ignorance involved in this thing is mind boggling. A bunch of celebrities from beverly hills who've never been north of 60 telling us how we should live our lives. Fuck those idiots, what gives them the right to tell us what to do, they think we respect their opinion because they starred in robocop or something, fuck that. And just because Paul Mcartney made some good music in the sixties that he knows the first fucking thing about seals. If they had any brains they'd know that the seal population is the highest its ever been and the cod population in newfoundland and labrador is close to the lowest its ever been. Seals eat cod. Newfoundlands economy has been going down the drain since they fished out the grand banks. THe seals are not helping the recovery process.

And by the way, seals aren't that fucking cute either. If you ever look at those slimy fuckers up close they have sharp teeth and aren't afraid to use them. When "Sir Paul" came to protest he almost got bitten by one. THey aren't fluffy stuffed animals like those dumb asses believe.

seals of all species.

definitely does not help the cod recover.

 
To make their case worse:

-The leader declared: "the death of 4 seal hunters is nothing comparing to the thousands of seals killed" during the funeral or the sealers

-Their boat hit a coast guard ship on purpose

-Upon the arrest of the crew of that ship, the leader bailed them out in twooney calling the government pirates for allowing seal hunters.

What those people fail to realize if that seals eat a lot, the population must be reduced to protect the eco-system.

 
I've eaten small fluffy baby seals! it's not very nice meat at all.. but all the tourists buy the seal hide coats and shit so I can see how it's a lucrative buseniss..

Oh, and I too hate animal rights idiots.. I mean, people (actual sentient human beings) are murdered at a much larger rate every year than those frickin seals!
 
I support the seal hunt mainly because seals eat fish and right now our fishing industry is going down the shitter, so the more fish the better. Its not like these people are protesting against big companies, ITS FUCKING WORKING CLASS CANADIANS just like the people protesting, thats just how they make their living.
 
I don't see how it's any different than hunting anything else. How can you protest seal hunts in northern Canada and not protest people hunting deer in Texas or Oregon or anyotherstatethathasanimalsthatyoucouldeasilypickoffwitha22. And it's way worse for the deer. A hunter doesn't always necessarily kill the animal quickly and painlessly. Plus the kind of terror a hunted animal feels before it dies is something to consider too. So fuck protesters...
 
....when have you ever been in the most northern parts of canada. I honestly think seal clubbing is fine stop bitching about what they do to live, id listen to paul mccartney if he lived up there for 2 years

I think seals are cool but if that's what needs to be done to save the fishing industry then whatever. I guess I don't really care either way.

I'm a vegetarian and I have a lot more of a problem with the American meat industry than a seal hunt. Most of our animal rights laws/opinions are a joke. People spaz out when they hear about a dog, seal, whatever being eaten, yet we eat huge amounts of beef, an animal that many believe to be holy. Please don't stereotype all vegetarians/whatever because of the actions of these idiots.
 
People feel strongly about the subject, but JUST LIKE RELIGION...

IMPOSE YOUR BULLSHIT ELSEWHERE.

I like meat. I like to eat copious amounts of chicken and fish. Red meat? meh.. occasionally... but COME ON. Seals are not even endangered... just go do San Francisco.... those motherfuckers are on top of every rock, and crag, and merged boat anchor in the entire bay at any one time. I dont say we should go full on out and eat tons of seals like we do other animals...

But if we can eat bambi... i'm sure a select, very few amount of people from teh very north of the planet that actually hunt seals have a right to do so... especially after the white poeple came in and killed the polar bears... who obviously go through a much more in-humaine way of killing the animal...
