boooo that sucked. Even though the series didn't get my heart racing at all, neither did the loss, it was fun to watch and cheer. Ugly ending for sure.

we all saw it coming. Anaheim is clearly a better team. they almost tripled the Canucks with shots on goal.
I also think that people who dislike sports teams, because they think the majority of the fans only pay attention to the team during the playoffs, are simply trying to be alternative for the sake of their own ego-- kind of like fags, Goths, and emos: the somewhat bitter outcasts of society. I don't dislike these outcasts; in fact, I think they give everyone else a good opportunity to laugh at something-- similar to the way they derive pleasure from being alternative or 'counter-cultural'. So go ahead; ridicule the Canucks and all their fake fans; give the rest of us something to laugh at and maybe you too will earn a nice, derogatory title for yourself.

Anyhow, the hit on Hansen was an elbowing penalty. But whatever, my predictions said Ducks in 5, they're arguably the best team in the playoffs, and it's hard not to like them; they play like Team Canada. Probably because 90% of their team is Canadian. Other than Pahlsson and Selanne I'm having trouble thinking of any euros on there. Also impressed how many Vancouver fans were down there, you heard the Looooooou every time Luongo made a save, and there was even an audible-over-the-tv MVP chant a couple times, which is unheard of in an opposition rink, especially the California ones, which are normally loud enough to drown everything out.
I wouldn't be put out if Anaheim won this year at all... they deserve it. A final four of Detroit, Anaheim, Ottawa and Buffalo? That'd be entertaining.

what a bunch of losers. they really really really did not want to make it nor did they deserve to make it. You can't leave your goalie to be ransacked and expect to win. Luongo was the only part of Vancouver that wanted to continue in the playoffs, first round or second round.

I just think the canucks suck a bag of dicks, didn't even deserve to win that one game, and should have folded the team long ago and traded Luongo to a team that'll put real players in front of him. Sound good? it does to me.

Simon if you don't like the canucks, you don't have to participate in this discussion. I'm sure you can take enough solice in the fact that you don't have to put up with fans on the street, coverage on regular news, and those little flags on the cars will slowly disappear. I don't think you can bitch and say that the Canucks suck. They deservingly made it to the second round of the playoffs.

Regardless of that, what about the first goal? No goaltender interferance call? No reviewing the goal? I thought that was bullshit. But even with that goal in the 2nd, Luongo gave the Canucks plenty of opporunity to win the game. For fucks sake, he stopped like 49 of 50 shots in 3 periods! And if we didn't shit the bed on Tuesday night, we could still be playing hockey, hell we could easily be up 3-2 in the series, even with our injuries. It's too bad the Sedins didn't show up this year. Naslund was lousy. The only one (besides Luongo) who played well was Linden. Especially considering his measely (comparatively) $600,000 salary.
Something has to change for next year. 9.2 million dollars of salary between Morrison and Naslund, both of which did played well below their potential during the season, and hardly showed up in the playoffs. Oh, and give Linden back the C. He should have had it all along.

the hit on hansen was clean. niedermayer just dropped his shoulder and followed through. hansen shouldve had his head up.
What were they going to review it for? It was obviously interference, but you have to call that on the play, and same goes for incidental contact. It's not reviewable. Which is annoying, but come on, it's not like the refs ever give us a break. Roberto Luongo, 2 minutes for delay of game...

I love how it's gone from "Dude, the 'nucks are gonna win it all" to "well, you know, they had no shot from the start, so losing in the second round is good".
Either losing is unnacceptable or it's not. Looks to me like the Canucks, as well as most of their fans, are just losers.

Most canucks fans I know are pretty realistic about their teams chances, unlike leaf fans. Obviously I would love for the canucks to go all the way, but they weren't good enough. Even if they played their best, it would have been tough to get by anaheim, then the wings/sharks and then the sens/sabres. This isn't new york, and we aren't the yankees. Just because we didn't win the cup doesn't mean the team sucks, I'd say it was a pretty good season despite not playing the playoffs the way we played the rest of the year.

I was annoyed when they lost those 2 games to Dallas, because we were a better team than Dallas, and should've won that series (also, to do the world a favour, so that no one would ever have to hear that announcer say "IT'S A DAAAAAAALLAS STARS POWER PLAY" with the Black Eyed Peas in the background ever again). There was no way we should've won this one. Brian Burke, why couldn't you have got US Pronger and Niedermayer? Anyway, it's hard to feel bad about losing to the better team.

Winning the division was a nice bonus, and everything after that is just experience building for guys like the Sedins, Bieksa and Kraijcek, and a thank-you to Luongo: here Bobby, welcome to Vantown, have your first playoffs. Let's face it, this franchise has a history of not meeting expectations, but this was supposed to just be a building year, and it's good to see there's something to build on.
I hope Nonis makes some cap room and gets us a first line in the offseason. The Sedins are probably the best second line in the league, but they can't be up against the top checkers every night and produce yet apparently.

I'm glad the Canucks have such strong support from their fans, and for that matter it shouldn't really matter that a lot of Canucks fans are bandwagoners.
The city fully backed the Canucks knowing that the chances of them making it out of the 2nd round were slim at best. But who cares, no one is jumping ship just criticizing players in an effort to build a better team for next year.
