Let Carl Sagan Blow Your Mind

I just watched the 3rd episode of the sagan series. my mind is completely blown. I actually got he goosebumps from it.

Supposedly part 6 is coming out soon. I hope so. The whole series is excellent. Highly recommend watching all of them.

Been reading "The Cosmos" By Sagan lately as well. One of the few books i've ever had to put down simply because my mind was absolutely blown beyond comprehension.
 
Watched all 3....and They got me thinking
space is so amazing...so cool to think about! Idk if this is right, but its what one of my old teachers told me
he said that space is an ever expanding thing...after the big bang or what ever it is that happened...space started to expand...and that it still is.
so after watching those videos, I thought to myself "whats beyond space? is it nothing...but what is nothing. If nothing is something, can it still be nothing?"
That probably made no sense...im tired, so im going to bed.
 
It's because the universe is expending that we have a little something we like to call "time", or in other words: the 4th dimension.

As for the nothing/something part, I'm guessing we still aren't advanced enough to wrap around mind over it. The fact that we aren't able to understand something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. For exemple: we still don't know yet much about the "pre-bigbang era", if there ever was one, but that doesn't mean we should explain it with some fairy tale story. We just need to be patient and understand our universe step by step.

But one thing you can wrap your mind around, is that space isn't empty, even the blackness you see. To put it simply, there is "black matter" everywhere in between space entities (planet, stars etc), this black matter conveys forces like gravity. Now, for what's outside our universe, we don't know. Might aswell be nothing, which there is nothing wrong with it. But hopefully, we'll get to understand that during my lifetime. If not, too bad for me.
 
Just a heads up, don't watch Pale Blue Dot when you are studying for exams. It makes you feel so small and insignificant such as that you feel like the outcome of your exams will be pointless.
 
it does feel good if someone is pissing you off though. Or if you ever feel left out or negative in any way.

But yea it makes you realize how meaningless everything really is.

I did...great thing to witness. Just too bad it had to be so early so a lot of people missed it.

Reading cosmos and the dragons of eden as we speak and they are both amazing, life changing books. He has the ability to convey science to the masses and thats why hes so fucking awesome.
 
it's been awhile, but fortunately a new one has been made!

I think this one is my favorite thus far. Anyone who I've debated with about the space program on here probably remembers or at least knows that the apollo program and early years of american space travel is a subject I know a lot about and love.
 
This guy is so fucking cool. Started watching them then realized that I have a paper due tomorrow that I should start on. Threads so I don't forget.
 
apparently the guy who makes these lost everything on his computer some time ago, so the whole thing is on hold.

but a good bump and watch all the same.
