Less Than Awesome News...

A "BOYCOTT WME" campaign should be started presently. I want skiers, boarders, resorts, event organizers, and film producers to sign on. Ideally, lock Warren Miller Entertainment out of the snowsports industry.

I really hope that all smaller film companies will refuse to sell footage to WME - just to force them to make their own footage.

Which should be funny, since most of those guys have their head stuck up their ass and dont even know the names of the top skiers in our sport.

Have fun filming Hermann Maier and Picaboo Street every year, guys.

this is disgusting. There are already pages of responses about the Level 1 suit, so I will not bother with more other than that I am repulsed and saddened.

Fuck those guys.

You, reading this, are a skier. Spread the word. People who know you as "that ski guy/girl" should know that as a die hard enthusiast, this is bullshit.

I am completely with you. WME need to get taught that they can't act like this an expect the rest of the skiing world to sit back. Warren Miller is the man and I respect him for everything he has done for our sport. WME need to learn that its the man we respect and not the company. /rant.

But seriously NS any chance of some form of official boycott/petition/protest of some kind?

I'm working on pulling together some information on Warren Miller Entertainment that is publicly available. I want to see a massive boycott mounted. That means that I want skiers, snowboarders, shops, resorts, event organizers, everyone to throw their support behind Warren Miller (the person) and Level 1. Here's what you can do right now.

1. Comment on their Facebook Page. Newschoolers, unleash your fury. Try not to post anything that could be used against Level 1 or Warren Miller (the person). Simply voice your support of those two figures and your intention to boycott their products.

2. @reply them on Twitter. @WarrenMillerEnt is the Twitter account. Go for it. Same as above. Steer clear from slanderous, demeaning language. Simply voice your support for Level 1 (@followlevel1) and Warren Miller (the person).

3. Use Twitter (Hashtags to Use). Voice your support for Level 1 using the following hashtags: #wmelawsuit, #supportlevel1, #supportmiller

4. Email your Local Resorts. Send them a kind, polite, and professional email asking them to refrain from showing WME's new movie "Wintervention."

5. Talk to Local Event Organizers. If a showing of "Wintervention" is planned in your area by a party other than Warren Miller Entertainment, consider emailing them and politely asking them to show "Revolver," or "Eye Trip" instead. Or perhaps even "Refresh." Again, be professional.

6. Support Level 1. Newschoolers don't have to be told twice, but honestly, go out and see "Eye Trip" when it premieres in your area. If that's not an option, order the movie (and perhaps some other merchandise?) online.

It's time, NS. Go out and work your magic.

I supported level 1 this year. I will also try to get the word out. And they are deleting negative comments on their fan page.

I posted this in the other thread, but if you're going to post on their Facebook, keep it clean. Don't use language or slurs, otherwise you're just going to look ignorant and possibly give them more material to use in their case.

NS: I advise you to take to their Facebook page. Post something along the lines of "Censorship is unjust." Leave it at that.

As well, I advise you to take to Twitter. @replies cannot be blocked and can be seen by anyone. Also, let's try to use the hashtags #wmelawsuit and #supportlevel1 to get the word out. If we can get enough NSers to tweet this, perhaps we can get on the trending list. I'm working on a dedicated Twitter account (@boycottwme) and a dedicated Facebook fan page for us to voice our support.

Haha, I saw that, I thought you were talking about how the previous comments were deleted. Good thing i've got screenshots!

first draft of my email:
should i send it?I saw this article today and to say the least am truly disgusted:http://sports.espn.go.com/action/freeskiing/news/story?id=5663173&a
The fact a ski movie company can treat it's own name (the REAL Warren Miller) with such disrespect and disgrace , proves to me that some individuals in this world are indeed soulless. Warren Miller himself should not have to have his voice be enslaved contract or not. The ski movie industry is about capturing fun in the purest essence - not coin. If you are going to sue Warren Miller then please change the name of Warren Miller Entertainment to something else. A suitable suggestion perhaps - something that is similar to Satan with entertainment at the end? Please do know I and fellow REAL lovers of the ski industry will be in full force to picket your Salt Lake City Premier. Respect gets respect and the people involved in this outrageous lawsuit deserve none. WME disgraces the snow sports community and the entire US legal system. -Liam Wentworth

just a heads up to the young and inspired - picketing isn't the greatest technique unless it is done with class. Printing up fliers to give out and posting them all around ski areas might be better. I think the greatest thing would be to buy an ad section in the local paper two days before a showing, and summarize the recent lawsuit. That will get people talking. Sadly, most people dont have hundreds of dollars laying around for newspaper ads. But, it would be successful.

On a separate note but on par with this thread, I went to the WME facebook page and was even more sickened to see that they were advertising for Jiberish, had Ian provo footy, and highlighted Jossi Wells, who happens to be working with them. Bleh.

Haha, that's what I thought at first, but then I thought you were talking about how they were trying to censor Warren Miller... My bad haha.

It took 5 seconds for my post on WME wall on facebook to go away... not worth it, go twitter and seriously can we start a digital boycott? At least get one going online?

suggestion to people spamming them: it appears they only delete posts and ban people from posting if you swear. keep it clean, but strong.

Don't hate on Jossi - boys just trying to make his coin and get his shred on. That being said it was probably some other companies footage that WME bought and so feel that they have to make it look like they legitimately support him outside of acquiring his footage.

Hate on WME. Not the riders. I am pretty sure the skiers in their movies think this is a ridiculous situation too.

Anybody know where their headquarters in Boulder are? I would love to get a crew together to go over there and picket the place
