Les Deux Alpes - Summer

As summer approaches and Windells etc isn't an option for us people in Europe, so I was wondering if anyone wants to get an apartment together for this summer for a week or so with The Riders Apartments/SMK Camps, £280/€300 for a week self catering weeks accommodation and ski pass, so it isn't silly money.

I'm thinking of doing the coaching but I would rather spend it with some Newschooler's being free what we want and saving more then £150+.

Wanna spend the whole summer there for cheap?

Rent a appartment over there(just look around the city, there are many available for cheap since most of the people live there only during the winter) and be a digger.

To do so, it's very simple. Just pay for your first lift ticket and at around 12:30 (the park closes at 1pm), go at the digger's shack and ask to dig for the day (around 2-3 hours in the sun at 3500m so not that easy). If your picked(it's very easy at the beginning of the season and if they see you often, they'll pick you everytime), you get a free lift ticket. There are many ski bums who do that all summer long and they ski all summer with only one lift ticket they actually paid.
 
actually, most of the so called "ski bums" are just guys from Grenoble, the closest "big" city, and they work as diggers just because they know everyone down there... it's kind of a small circle..
 
Yeah that's not really an option as I just want to come down for the week to ski, all I'm really looking for is some people to share an apartment and shred with for the week haha.
 
Believe it or not, if you plan to stay somewhere for a week, they tend to charge you for a week. Weird system.
 
I'd be down for it, that is if i can find the money to go. So it's a maybe from me. It also depends if one of my mates can go as well. So stoked that there's an affordable camp somewhere!
 
Well if your buddy is up for we shred together with the free option, if that's alright with you man? all together its about £500 with travel, then extra for food/beer etc, you can literally live off like 10 euro's a day if you want.
 
i calculated £724 total, this was with extra stuff like paintball etc. are these things worth it or is there not much point?

 
nah none of them are really necessary, breakfast for the week is like €10(cereal), lunch is like 5 a day if you want to get a burger, but if you want to make a roll you can for like €3, then dinner can be up to 10 if you want to get a pizza, or you can just buy premade meals, so if you want, you don't have to spend much at all, beer is like €8 for a crate of 20 frenchies(250ml), if you put your mind to it, you can easily live off 100 for the week, if you want to have a good time and get pissed most night 200 is fine at the max

now ive sacked up and booked i can tell you about the awesome deal a student skiing company are doing for a trip to lda. (you dont have to acctually be a student, they rely on not being known outside students). £250 for return coach (with ski carriage), lift pass and accomodation for 13th-21st July, then they have insurance for £20-35. go to studentskiing.com and use the club code summers12 to book. im going with a bunch of friends from different unis, some nsers, should be sick.

well you dont have to get the coach you could fly out when you get back... but then again i suppose that defeats the awesomeness of the deal. you will get £40 back for not coaching it.to the person above i will be riding in peobably a black label project hoodie, white helmet and salomon magic pants give me a shout if you see me.
 
I know we're middle of winter, but I probably won't get away from work and into the alps this season, so I have to think about summer

Is deux alpes good for some summer park-rattery? If the park closes at 1 it seems quite expensive for the amount of skiing time you get. also, is there an airbag or trampolines around to practice?

Basically, I want to ski all the fucking time and I'm going mad at the idea that I won't ski until next winter.

when i went to les 2 alpes, there was no park in the summer. and the mountain closed at 1. Seems kinda expensive for the small amount of skiing ud get.

Butttttt, the village and life in les 2 alpes is super sweet! love that place.
 
yeahhhhh dude I used to race there every year and the nightlife is pretty awesome! spent a fortune eating chilli cheese nachos at charlies bar and drinking in avalanche... such good days!

So the mountain closes at 1, guess that's due to the snow being so heavy by that time in the day? What time does the mountain open, can you remember? cheers
 
I dont know how early/late in the summer you went that there was no park as there has been one since at least 06 form a quick google image search. Deux Alpes is one of if not the best summer parks in europe.here is the plan from last summer

the glacier lifts shut at 1 but you can easily hike the rail stuff until at least 2 and the gondola up runs all day for the mountain biking. there are trampolines in town, cant remember how much. there is a bunch of other stuff you get for free on your lift pass aswell like the pool, archery, dry toboganning, golf etc. the lifts open at like 7 or something crazy for the racer kids but its not worth going up until like 9 as its bulletproof otherwise. if you're looking to do it on the cheap you can get your liftpass for the following day for free if you do shaping in the park after closing.
