Lens for Cannon 550D

Hey all; I am stepping up to enter into the DSLR range with a Cannon eos 550D. I plan to use it primarily to take action sports photos (Mainly Skiing, skating and Biking) but I will also be using it for scenic shots when I see the opportunity. It looks like I'll be needing two lenses? in order to achieve this, but what lense/s would meet my requirements?

Well as I'm purchasing the camera as well as the lenses, I'd rather go for something not overly expensive to start with.

save up another 200ish and find yourself a used 70-200 f4L USM about 500$ then get a 50mm 1.4 USM for about 300$. that's a great start to a lens collection and just start saving for a wide angle lens.
