Lens flares

So I've been using these as transitions for almost everything in one of the edits my friends and I are working on. Just wondering since I don't see them very often what you all think.

have any examples? I'm familiar with lens flares, but the question is too vague without an example. It's like asking if someone likes shallow depth of field. It can look good and add to a video, or it can be distracting and ruin it.

Are you J.J. Abrahams?

it sounds like you are overdoing it, and if you have to ask, you probably shouldnt be doing them in general

Film burns are way too over used in my opinion.

Some people definitely overuse lens flares. But at least With lens flares you have to consciously try to make them happen while filming. Film burns are just an afterthought in post.

Autocorrect, who gives a shit he is overrated anyway.

Jean Luc Godard is much better. (Only french new wave director I know and I feel like that's a wave that you would like judging be the general cultured vibe you give off in other threads)

I'm talking about Film burns and lens flares. It's too damn hard to get examples in but I cut it down to only a few transitions. Sorry for being so vague

There wasn't a single 'film burn' in that entire video.

I thought he was saying that video was an example of film burns, maybe he meant the opposite?

Yeah i meant there wasnt any. Just a bunch of overexposed light flashes. Very painful to watch.

He was trying out "lens whacking" Some of it gets way to bright, but its something different.
