Lens Dilemma, need some opinions

So I will be buying the 60D soon for mostly video. I currently have a nikon D90 (possibly going to sell it when i get the 60d) and consequently have some other nikon gear such as a flash, 50mm prime/ shitty 18-105 kit lens.

Now here is where it gets tricky, I'm planning on getting the 35mm and 85mm nikon primes due to their compatibility/aperture rings for future cameras. I'm planning on getting those cheap canon to nikon adapters off ebay to use these with the 60d On top of those I'm going to get the tokina 11-16 and tamron 17-50 (oh how typical...yes I know). My question is do I get these two lenses with a nikon or canon mount? I think there is a strong possibility of me going back to nikon in a couple years once they figure out the video game a little more. I much prefer them for photography which I do a fair amount of. I just dont have the time to wait for a quality one with video to be released (d300 replacement).

Anyway if I were to go nikon mount for the 11-16/17-50 I would get one of these adapters so i could adjust aperture.

So I guess what I'm getting at is, is it worth it to get the nikon mount of the tokina /tamron and deal with an expensive adapter for those two lenses or should I go the cheaper route now and get the canon mount and not have to buy a $250 adapter that changes aperture.

If I were to get the canon mount and switch back to nikon later down the road I would probably sell the two lenses and buy the exact same ones with nikon mount. Just keep in mind the $250 price tag on the adapter and the fact that i will be using $10 ones on the primes that have an aperture ring.

I should also probably add that i'm thinking of getting either an fs100 or its replacement in a few years (or whatever interchangeable lens video camera is the best at that price point at the time). And if i were to switch back to nikon after the 60d i would use it primarily for photography/ b cam to the fs100. Kind of like Heath was talking about a few weeks ago.

Buy the tamron and tokina for canon. They're "G" series lenses so they need a special adapter to change the aperture and i dunno if that 300 dollar one ever does it. If you switch back to nikon only eventually, selling your tokina and tamron shouldnt be too hard.

It can adjust aperture but I'm starting to think you're right with buying canon mount. Glad you responded to this since I know you're very knowledgeable in this area.

and FBowitz you cant put canon glass on to a nikon body with an adapter, you can only put nikon on canon. I would definitely agree with you if you could though.

Word, but still, with the tamron and tokina you'll have electronic controls so if you wanted to take photos youd have AF.

If you do upgrade to something with a nikon mount, you can definitely sell a 11-16 and 17-50 pretty easily. Who knows, by that time they may have better versions out so youd wanna upgrade to those anyway.

for now get the canon mounts, it will be much better.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense now that i think about it. The cost of the adapter would probably be around the same as the money i'd lose on selling/ rebuying for nikon mount. Plus like you said i'd have the electronic controls. Thanks for the help, much appreciated

Just buy the 11-16 and 17-50 used in canon mount so you won't lose too much money if you want to switch later on. Lenses don't depreciate much.
