Lenght Measurements

Is it quite common that ski companies doesn't size the length of skis from nosé to tail? (they just size the base which has contact with the terrain)

from what I understand most companies measure before the ski is pressed, so a 177 ski will only measure 177 if you take a tape measure from the tip, run it along the base, and straight to the end of the other tail.

K2 measures after skis are pressed I believe, so supposedly you would stretch a tape measure from the tip to the tail over the base topsheet without following the contours of the skis.

very few companies measure skis based on contact points though. Some may note where the contact points are, so you could do some math and figure it out though.
