Leica for HD Video

Did a quick search (on both NS & Google!) and didn't find much discussion on Leica HD video. The cameras are the steezy dark horse to Canon and Nikon in photography and most models shoot HD1080 video now. I found a pretty good Vimeo video (which I would assume is shot with the same camera he is reviewing). Anyone used one to shoot video? Post links to SCHTUFF!

the only reason to shoot leica for video is the lenses, so either shoot m4/3 or get an adapter for leica R

But the m240 having video is great for war/press photogs

Don't get me wrong, great camera, but IMO all you're paying more for is the name. You could argue lenses and stuff, but to me it's not a big enough difference to where, even if I had the money I would pay for it.

I've used Leicas before, and I've played around with an M9 a few times... As sweet and as smooth and as 'perfect' they are, I'm not hugely impressed enough to say it's worth as much as it is other than to tout around.

Call it camera envy or whatever you want, but absolutely no Leica M is worth that much money under realistic justifications haha.

Yeah you're right... I would totally bother writing in this thread having no idea what I'm talking about. I've used them enough to realize that I'm fine with my DSLR because if i'm paying for that Leica, the difference in price to me does not result in IQ that is directly related. The way I look at it, for the work I do with my camera, I feel the image is at least three times as good as what I could get with a point and shoot that would cost 1/3 as much. However, I don't feel that spending 3 times more than what I've already spent on my DSLR setup on a Leica setup will result in photos looking that much better to where I'd feel that I should spend that money. Does it produce beautiful shots? Sure, and I'd love to have a Leica, just not as long as I'm paying for it.

Half the reason people shoot Leicas isn't for their image quality. It's for their design.

If you put an M6 on a tripod next to an F6 in a controlled setting, the different would be negligible. The whole philosophy of a Leica is that its a bare-bones workhorse with top notch optics and design. So while you're fumbling with AF points, changing lenses, exposure comp, etc., Leica shooters are off creaming their jeans to the bright viewfinder and using its elegant design to get the shot.

Not that I give a shit about Leicas either; I'm just playing devil's advocate.

Oh for sure I'll give you that. Not at all going to argue about anything that makes it a better camera, I guess what I just should have said in the beginning was just that these points that make it better aren't better enough to warrant me paying so god damn much for one is all. But as I can tell you agree so it's a moot point here
