Ok, im looking into getting my first car.

I saw a blue 2003 Audi A4 w/ 45,000 miles on autotrader. 3,970 dollars.

I see it is "in my area". But it's not. Thats just where the seller seemed to post it. The phone number to go along with it is a CA area code. I live in NY.

I inquire about the car.

"Where is this located in NY? Do you have more pictures? Why is the price so low?

Thanks"

Response

Hello,

First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my car. I am selling it at this price

($3.970) because I just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce finished, the car was registered under my name. Now as a woman I don't need it. This car is in excellent working condition, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title, 3 months transferable warranty.

From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services. We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for $20,000. The final price that I want for this car is $3.970 USD including shipping and handling.

If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.

I will wait your answer(if you are interested to buy) very soon.

Thank you,

My response:

Ok

I don't understand the shipping and handling though. Where is this car located?

Response 2:

Hi,

Nice to see that you’re still interested in buying.

If we reach an agreement, the car will be delivered directly to your address.

It will be shipped by truck and it will take about 5-6 days to reach your address.

To speed up the process I’m telling you in advance that for payment we should use eBay's security for such transactions.

The transaction will be fully under eBay's surveillance, giving us both security and insurance that nothing will go wrong. They will be the 3rd, objective party involved in the transaction. This way you will actually pay for the car after you will receive and test it, because eBay will hold the funds in an escrow account and release it to me only after you accept and confirm the delivery.

After the car reaches your address you will have 5 days to see and test it. Within this period you have to decide if you purchase it or not.

If you decide to take it you will have to contact eBay and let them know that, so they can release the payment to me. If you won't like it you will have to ship it back to me within the 7 days and eBay will refund you. The shipping back will be done on my own expense, but I am sure this will not be the case.

To start the transaction with eBay, I will need the following details in order:

Full name:

Address:

Phone number:

Best regards,

The final question:

Legit, or not.

Thanks.

man it's not legit :(

if you formiliar with craigslist...I remember looking for cars on there earlier this year and came across that shit so much

someone selling an audi that cheap...no way. It'd have to be straight fucked up.

seriously tho, i got nearly the same responses from those inquiries...telling me it had to be paid through another company and then "shipped" to my house. ya bullshit

ya deff seems sketch. ask one more time like Im just really curios as to where you are sending it from..... and if you dont get what you want tell them to go fuck themselves.

yeahhhh that right there should be a red flag. plus she claims that she got the car through the divorce. now in that case, wouldnt she want book value for it or maybe $10K? why such an odd price? i say not legit. sorry man

no way i mean a 2003 Audi with 43,000 miles is not worth 3,900 try almost 5x that. and if u decide to go through with it use paypal

Hah, yeah it definitley seems like a bullshit scam. Now that you know shes scamming you and NS has got your back, just fuck around with this lady. Seriously, at least you'll get some laughs out of it.

hahahhaha yeah when i saw that it was all over for me. 03' a4 is so much more than $3900. i bought my 95' a6 for $3500. its a sick ride

for that price i would tell her ill fly out met you hand you the money in person and drive it back.

ahahah i was just going to make this exact post!

but yah...to the creator of this thread... it's definitely NOT legit.

check out www.vwvortex.com for some amazing deals on audis, VW's and more (and nobody will screw you over)

You shouldn't ever buy a car without driving it first. Anyone who wants to deliver you a car - fuck that. You need to go there and drive it, and with a used car, you need to take it to a mechanic to have them check it over. Do it on the test drive if you have to. It's not smart to do it any other way.

HAHAHA!

The car is already sealed in a container along with all the necessary documents in San Jose, CA (ebay HQ) and is ready to be shipped for inspection/testdrive and/or to be bought. Everything has been paid for (inspections, shipping, staff, insurance, etc.) so you won't have to pay for anything else than the car.

ive dealt with the exact same person before. 100000% not legit. got word for word same response on a bmw m5 for 5 grand with 3000 miles on it.

i sit at my job all day bouncing back and forth between auto trader and ns, and rule number one is that if its too good to be true, then its actually too good to be true. First off, report the seller to autotrader and they will take if from there, and secondly insurance on an audi for a new driver is going to run you min 6gs a year, nevermind repairs, which will be frequent. I suggest something a little less flashy...

i have a friend who has a similar offer about an audi, and had similar responses that seemed automated. his turned out to be bullshit. be weary if you pursue it

that what i said when he first showed me.. but judging by the backround, i assumed the lady selling was a rich bitch who really didnt care
