anyone know of shops in whistler that might not be too busy or would be chill enough to mount some skis quickly for me ? i'm heading up tomorrow morning, i'll be there till friday but i dont have a pair of pow skis which are mounted

sshort story long

i took 'em down to my usual store here in vancouver on sunday,

they told me theyd be ready on thursday. i told them to gimme a call if

there were any problems because i really needed these mounted, i never

got a phone call, so i go on thursday afternoon to pick 'em up and they

told me they weren't able to mount them because they didn't have a jig

wide enough... i meant to head to comor in kits yesterday but it was

hella busy

so now i'm stuck without a pair of pow skis (my next

widest skis are 88mm, center mounted) and it's dumping it down at

whistler. i'd prefer one in the village where i'm staying, dont have transport so getting to creekside or whatever will be pretty hard. i was thinking canski but i bet they'll be busy

Try going to to TMC (beside cuban store) or Fanatyk Co (beside behind the grind). Be prepared to pay normal price and bribe them with either a 6 pack or 12 pack. TMC opens at 8 or 9 so if you go in the morning, pay for the mount and toss them a 12 pack, they would likely hit it up on the spot. Try Fanatyk Co if TMC don't work out. Beer is currency with extra chill factor.

I think I know where they are, they're like literally right beside each other. Sundial area

Just wondering, what would a 'normal' mounting time be at peak periods... a week?

Probably a few days at the least. I dunno, I always get mine back the same day, but I also always pay in beer.

Or you could not be a pussy, grab some duct tape, a pen, a drill and a screwdriver and do it yo-self. I've mounted two pairs of skis on my own and both have been dandy. Those were acts of necessity and I prefer to get it properly done if possible(risk aversion, but even shops fuck up), but my mount skills were evidently up to task with the rudimentary equipment I had.

Tape your bindings to you skis where you want them; you can either mark the spots with a marker or drill through the binding screw holes, depends on your binding/drill. Check out the depth of the ski/screw and duct tape around your drill bit to that depth so you don't exceed it. Don't want to go all the way through. Drill said holes. Screw in bindings. It's pretty easy actually. The only value shops add is the mount jigs and the screw bits that taper to the correct depth. Both those you can easily jimmy-rig. If I had a monkey, I would train him to do it for me.

Anyone else ever mount their own skis?

it takes 10 mins max to mount skis. in the city thats probably 10 days.

fuck if i was ever told it would be over a day to mount my skis I would seriously wonder what the fuck they are doing.
