football is a game of discipline.

the instigator usually NEVER gets penalized.... its ALWAYS the one who retaliates who gets punished. The same goes for other aggressive sports (hockey, basketball, rugby, etc...)

Blount deserves what comes to him. Heck, I would have no problem with him getting criminally charged either!

i think what blount did was definitely wrong and he deserves his punishment but hout also deserves punishment. if you watch the video blount was walking of the field and hout stepped after him, tapped him in the shoulder, and taunted him. he deserved the punch. as for attacking fans, thats unacceptable and he deserves the punishment for that.
 
a boise fan yelled fuck you to blount and the fan tried to hit blount when blount tried to come in the crowd.

The decision for a year suspension is harsh, especially because he is one of the top backs coming into this season. While the punch was not deserved, most people dont understand the adrenaline and emotion running through a player after a hard fought and physical football game, especially at the D1 level. I think that if Oregon is willing to suspend their star RB for the entire season due to this, there should at least be something done to the Boise player for taunting because that was bull shit as well and he would have gotten knocked from even more mild tempered players. It should have ended there, but after Blout made an effort to get to the crowd and hit a teammate, he was not helping his cause at all. In addition, Blout has been in trouble with the team several times before, so this was just a final straw. In my mind, however, he deserves at least half a season, maybe 8 games, but to throw away his senior year and possibly an NFL career seems like too much.
 
I read that blount didnt even hear what hout said.

He said he reacted to the shove from hout and punched him so..... that kinda changes his reaction which in that case is rediculous.
