That website doesnt supply me with new information. Its basically conter arguments that a high school student comes up with.

Why does it matter if its legal or not. Its not like its illegality has stopped anyone who wanted too.

That guy didn't even touch on the important points. Marijuana is California's biggest cash crop. Legalizing it and taxing it could potentially save California's failing economy.
 
Or, we could change a damn thing in this country so I am not paying for new prisons, hospital bills, and welfare for illegal immigrants. As long as they are here and everything stays the same it is only going to get worse and worse. Will, legalizing weed help, possibly, will it be enough to get us out of the shitter? No. Before adding, maybe we should subtract. Sorry man, but we don't need to add more things to improve CA's economy, we just need to remove some things.
 
i feel that the points aren't supported well. Your focus wasn't really consistent. You need to poise the argument better and do more research. I would rather just make someone watch "The Union" rather than show them this article. Sorry not the best essay i have seen better written essays on cannabis laws and reasons to legalize cannabis.

I'm not gonna get into the grammar, that was just horrible.
 
personally i believe it should stay decriminalized and i smoke atleast 2 times a day. i feel as though it would just be another reason for kids not to do there homework. wow i could play x box 360 WOW i could play it high off my ass. ..6hours later.. the kid falls asleep. a couple years down the road he will be in the same position. it also effects some people that have anxiety and makes it worse 10 fold
 
yep, i agree. It just makes no sense really. Complete legalization makes the most sense and would be safest too, because we can regulate who is smoking cannabis and tax it. That is what the government would benefit from if they legalize cannabis
 
Not trying to turn this into an argument, merely a discussion; I feel like legalizing and taxing MJ would just make it more expensive than it is now. If people can get it for cheeper from the same places they do now wouldnt they just keep getting it from there? And wouldn't that make the taxes unprofitable and the crime continue? I am a non smoker as well and would love to have to money from a tax and the extra money from not having to pay for dealers and users to stay in our jails, when they get caught. But I think if its going to be done it needs to be done affordably, not with a high tax hoping for high profits.
 
please don't make the pot smoking community seem like criminals, most of us aren't. I really despise how if I like to get high, I'm a criminal or a delinquent. And it's just fine socially if I drink till I puke three times a week.
Smoking could do you some good. You annoy the hell out of me. You're so uptight about any controversial issue. Mellow out! As much as you'd like to defend yourself and then try to spin it back in my face in typical NS fashion, I just don''t care.

haha it's not that we're all grammar freaks, it's just that it's hard to take an article seriously when it sounds like it was written by an 8th grader with dyslexia. Especially when the OP wanted us to "pass it to family and friends" like, "hey mom here's why i think pot should be legal"
 
every single member on this site has read at least two threads on this search bar the word weed and i am sure you'll find at least 10 threads out of the 50 or so that come up saying legalize it.. now i agree with you but still we have seen this thread so many times
 
my problem with the whole legalize crowd is that most of them are high school/college stoners that just like to get hiiiiiigh and act like dumbshits, but then try to think of all these logical reasons (like the link) to legalize it to support their stoner habbits

i think people trying to legalize it are, for the most part, going about doing it the wrong way. A website thats poorly done getting hits won't convince anyone. You have to individual members of congress, get them to approve, and slowly build up from there. There's many different ways to do it, but what it comes down to is you can't expect the entire country to suddenly change their mind, and accept legalization. Small efforts at a time.

and the funny thing in my opinion is that if it were legal, there'd probably be an age limit, which half this site wouldn't reach, and there would definitely be taxes on it that would make it insanely expensive.
 
No, 100% of the people who smoke pot in the United States are criminals, by definition. It is illegal to smoke it, which you did, which means you broke the law, which means you are a criminal.
The main reason that I see for legalizing marijuana is purely economical. The amount of your and my money that is spent on enforcing its illegality could be put to a much more productive use such as hiring more and better teachers, fixing roads, installing and upgrading mass transit as well as policing other criminals who actually present a threat to our society. This is the main problem I have with keeping the drug illegal. The ability to tax it would be a bonus.
Other arguments are that it's harmful effects are not particularly dangerous compared to other drugs, especially with regards to those around the users. It is also not chemically addictive, and only mildly mentally addictive.
The main argument I have for keeping it illegal is that it kills productivity. You look at most people who smoke on a regular basis and the over all tendency is that they are lazier and less motivated then those who do not smoke on a regular basis, as with everything there are exceptions or outliers, but over all those who use marijuana tend to be lazier then those who don't. Having a bunch of lazy unmotivated individuals is really not a good situation for any society. It is also possible to smoke yourself retarded, or at-least dumber then you were before.
Overall I am in favor of legalizing it, but less so then I was before I read that article the creator posted.

Yep, cannabis is completely illegal in all of the Netherlands, but in Amsterdam the use of cannabis is tolerated for use. You can only have up to 5 grams of cannabis on you at any time. It is simply tolerated, not decrimanalized or legalized. It is a common misconception about the legality of cannabis in Amsterdam.
