Legalising marijuana study ideas

So when my government teacher tells us about a 4-6 page report about anything involving our nation I immediatly pounced on the topic of discussion why marijuana isn't legal in the US and why people are given harsh prison times for smoking something (I deem) less harmful than alcohol. It's a subject I am quite naive on and I'd like to know more about it instead of just spouting out the stupid stoner remarks of "just try it man, it'll change your life."

So this is where newschoolers comes in. If anyone has some great medical studies they've come across in their times on the internet, I'd really appreciate if you would post the links to them, or describe it so I can do some searching for it. In no way am I asking anyone for them to do it for me. I'm just looking for some really interesting studies to put in my report. I'm actually excited about writing a report in school, crazy, I know. And for anyone wondering I've already found the swiss study about how young marijuana users actually might funtion better if they smoke only cannabis. Thanks for reading and helping.

the canadian senate has published one or two reports advocating the decrim/legalization of weed. additionally, the fraser institute, a canadian economic think tank published a report on weed a few years ago.

i think hes looking more towards how its proven to be in some cases "healthy" for some long term diseases^ not how its decriminilized

I think you'll have a rough time trying to proove that it's "not that bad" for you. lean more towards what laws could be put in place to make sure that someone high wont be a danger to others. no driving, no smoking in some public places, etc. etc.. weed is just so hard to regulate though. there's no breathalizer and on spot blood tests aren't the most pratical.

your going to have to look this up your self but heres 2

there is one studie done recently that marijuana accually helps prevent lung cancer

there is a study that says marijuana (if used sparingly) helps grow brain cells and can cure depression and anxiety problems

Well i guess you'll have to take that up with pretty much the entire British people.

But thank you everyone for your input.

I think I'm going to focus on the economical aspect mostly, but I'm still going to focus on the fact that its not that bad. Alcohol is legal, marijuana is safer than alcohol, therefore marijuana should be legal.

But you don't even have to be breathalized to be arrested for a DWI. They can haul your ass in simply because you look drunk.

Haha thats funny, Im writing a 15 page research paper about gov.role in the legalization/decriminalization of marijuana and why it isnt legal/decriminalized. You can find shit everywhere online, just make sure its credible...which means don't use anything from the DEA, because there extremely bias. If they could get away with it I'm pretty sure they would write that if you ever see marijuana you'll immediately contract terrorist ideals.

Hahaha that's so true. I tried going to a .gov site but it was like I was watching Reefer Madness. You smoke weed then you'll kill someone.

i did a paper on this issue, and found that the origional reason hemp was mad illeagal was that the government had money in the nylon industry, and the navy used hemp ropes (because they work better). so for the government to make money they needed to get rid of hemp use, so they had to make it illeagal to use.

mkay, so first of all, there is a spot test for weed and its if you think someone is high you see how long they can resist a fresh bag of Doritos and an ice cold Coke. It also obviously can help depression cause you laugh and have fun and shit and it makes you not think about your shitty life. alcohol can make you an ass-hole, weed will just make you really dumb.

so there, it should probly be legalized.

personally i think marijuana could possibly legalized if it was not "enhanced".

most people buying marijuana do not know where it came from and do not know what has been put in it. making it extremely dangerous in some cases.

yeah but somebody lacing your weed isn't going to kill you. people lace weed to get a better high, for themselves. not to kill people. a dealer selling you laced weed is in fact losing money, and giving you a much better high.

if theres anything skiing has taught me..

if you can ski high.. you better damn well be able to drive high.

Fuck that. I want pure weed, I love being fortunate enough to have the California Cannabis Club.

New weed smokers read this:

If your weed smells at all like pine sol, or something along those lines, its because your dealer is trying to screw you over. Pine sol soaks into the bud and makes it weigh more, which allows them to make more money. On top of that its got toxic properties and tastes horrible. Quite a few shady dealers do this.
