Left, Right, a double flip and rails to make you cum.

+ respect

i was going to post something long and winded but decided to watch some T.Heed instead.

i feel you

I feel that I have the most credibility in this thread because it is about me. It has just turned into bashing, so let's just drop it. Mikee talks shit, but at the same time he makes good points and I am taking his advice. It is not a big deal, all that is important now is that everyone knows how lame Kolby is.

hahah

for the record, I like you!

I just am frustrated by the direction of skiing, which is why I talk shit. But really it is all for the purpose of construction, progression and such.

And yeah, I'm just stoked on how nice and modest and stuff you are. So like, I'm DOWN with you and whatever you choose to do.

Well the thing is though that like... I really do believe what I say... and I really do hate watching a lot of the edits. and I really do express directly and intensely how I feel... and if someone does that on my video thats cool too... if I agree I will be like "word man, good point" or if not I'll be like "sorry man, I just don't feel you on that one, ye dig?" and so like that's just how it's gonna happen. I'm not gonna give this guy props if I hate what he is doing.

did i spy an octo grab in there? those are neat haha.
if you really want suggestions on what to do, i would like to see you pretzel the DFD. and by like to see i would really enjoy it, not like i would like to see you try haha. no hate intended! i could never hate on anyone (publicly) on someone who is way better than me x123245

no personal beef mikee, Im actually glad people have opposite opinions on this edit....but saying that he should do basic tricks, that every other kid in the park can do with solid relative ease, to "personalize" his style is kind of contradictory.

Gus is doing tricks that very few people, or no one is doing for that matter (bs 810 out, I've never seen it till now).

That is exactly what sets him apart from the rest of us, it's his skiing ability that defines him.

And yeah his style wasn't perfect, mightve been because of how crazy technical the tricks he was doing were. AND I can imagine he's just going to get better style as he progresses as a skier, seems logical enough.

Also, I dont think anyone here is qualified to offer a critique of his skiing.

i give that man two tumbs up and a seel of aprovel

istockphoto_2381624_seal_of_approval.jpg

it was a bit of jon, colby, and sammy all rolled into one... that kid truly is super fuckin unknown in every sense of the term.

man ive watched this at least once a day since ive seen it haha. your so crazy and to everyone saying he should work on style. well look at how technical hes going and it dosent look horrible. ski for fun

sounds like you hated right there. you can say you don't like his style but the moment you say it's "lame robotron shit" that right there sounds like hating. having an opinion is fine just like gus said, but when you call other styles lame and rip on them that's where you piss people off. gus has fun skiing and pushes himself hard and thats what should count. if you don't like it, fine. just don't rip on him.

k straight slides and all that HAS been done 1000000 times and mutes and all that style stuff is completely subjective, i think they look sick.

yo parker what up

i agree with you to some extent mike. its about steez. i sit and watch goontown for a while before skiing everyday. super tech and steez. if you dont know about goontown look him up.

but you are talking way too much man. i feel the whole 'flow' 'style' 'aesthetics over tech' thing. lots of us do. but all you are doing is putting some kid(16 years old?)'s video down into the dirt cause you dont like the multitude of blind tre switchups, cork 9 blunts, 630's out, etc. homie killed it and so far, your nothing but a hater.

and to be a dick about the whole thing, that kid is going to detonate. HUGE. hes 16. whoa. but you'll probably still be on NS hatin. just like when brogan blows up. sad sad story that no one sees the light, that you are really better than them!

not saying I am better than them.

Just saying... like imagine if a skateboarder or snowboarder did shit like that... they would get mad hate cause its really not very cool.

you are ridiculous. Just because his skiing isn't your opinion of what is stylish or cool, you have to shit all over it? And then you tell him to "have his own style," yet you instruct him on how to do this. That makes no fuckin sense. Let the kid ski his way, and you ski your way. Personally, I'm bored of watching people do easy 5s with no poles. Its boring. Its been over done and I don't even like the no poles trend. But, I'm not going to shit on their videos and say they are terrible and if i were skiing i would literally yell hate at them. Shut the fuck up and go ski

to clarify, i do not think i am a better skier than anybody, especially at park. I don't even ski that much park anymore. I ski for fun, which i think is what everybody should do, not to criticize somebody for having different style. I said different style, not "wrong" style. There is no wrong style, contrary to how much shit you have spewed in this thread. Grow up and have an open mind

For the record, this would have won superunknown.

This is was more stylish than Martini, with better jumps.

Way more tech than Brogan, way better jumps and rails, slightly less steezy.

whatever man.

I just think that its crazy that everyone is hyped on this kind of skiing.

It's just like... whack. Like I don't know man. Do what you want, but like... wtf?

The thing is that people are saying shit like "this should have won superunknown" and like "omg so sick future of skiing right here".

and that just doesn't seem sweet to me. Like... it's just a way that I would rather see skiing not go. I don't mean like people shouldn't do what they want, but just that as a general trend I , along with many others, would rather see skiing get over the idea that the more you can spin the sicker you are...

It's like take music. If people were all like "OMG look how fast that song is, how fast that guy can play!" I would be like... wow you are a fucking faggot. It's about MUSIC, not about how fast you can play. The best musician is one who can play each note with supreme delicacy and passion. It's about bringing your own expression to the music, as well as being able to play technically well. It's about originiality and expression and ART.

That is what I want skiing to be about. So YES I will hate on people who are saying that the sickest thing ever in skiing is whoever can spin the fastest.

i still dont think YOU understand. there are a lot of people out there that can spin MUCH more that guss but the fact that he can grab all his spins, even off rails and make it look generally effortless is what your completely overlooking. what you said before: "omg you should totally do some straight grinds and see what happens etc" is laughable. how bout i refer to your musical example, i agree that playing to fast sounds ridiculous and usually has no expression but no musician is going to go out there and make money by playing an open E string on a guitar with "expression". jumps are getting bigger and people are getting more skilled so unfortunately for you nobody is going to find "doing a straight slide" or whatever to be "anything that hasn't been done 1000000 times"

I really hope you are not saying that doing a straight slide is just not cool anymore. It's like... ok... hitting an open e does not count cause it's hard to make that your own. But if you can hit a simple little riff that any kid could play, but you can make people go WOW look at that. That is what I am talking about.

Obviously in the end it is going to be a combination of tech and style and originality and whatever. Im not saying that we shouldnt do tech stuff. All Im saying is that tech with nothing different, nothing exciting, no style, is lame in my books.

I think that the style side of things has been SERIOUSLY neglected.

read the last part of my post where i quoted you and you'll see my main point was to point out how your being a hypocrite

but im not being a hypocrite, cause straight slides done IN YOUR OWN WAY, have not been done 10000 times. Like when a blues player plays the same old blues scale but makes it his own.

dude we get it. we see your point. no one is saying that this kid just killed pep's 1242 seggy. they are calling it the future of skiing cause hes 16 years old.

theres only so many ways to do a straight slide, its great to do them with you own style and all but after i see u do a couple straight slides with your own style i wanna see some more tech tricks
