Leaving skiing

im startin to look at schools and hawaii is lookin like my first choice right now and that means no skiing. I will be playin baseball and probably learnt o surf but im wonderin how it will be with no skiing. Anyone else ever have to leave skiing and if so how did it go?

when i was in 5th grade my family moved to puerto rico so that meant no more skiing on the weekends. i remember i cried on my last ski day. but after like a year i completely forgot about it. i dont think it would be as easy now as i am way more in to skiing then i used to be

damn i guess you can ski in hawaii haha i just looked, never woulda thought but im sure i wont be getting out everyday liek usuall

Yeah, i want to go to west aus, but i thought no skiing. Turns out they build fake snow parks indoors. They probs have that in hawaii, and skiing on actual hills too.

i still like skiing i am just saying surfing and kiting is better. i personally dont like freezing my ballz of skiing in the winter. spring skiing does beat surfing and kiting though

ive always wanted to surf.

im sure you'll have a good time doing that out there.

you can find some places to ski there also.

Mauna Kea (Hawaiian for 'white mountain') is a 13,796' (4205 meter) volcanic mountain whose summit sometimes gets a skiable/boardable mantle of snow. There are no lifts, no grooming, no resort, but a road goes to the summit to serve the dozen or so world class observatories located at the summit. You must have a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get to the summit, which serves as your "lift." Basically, skiers take turns being the driver, who picks up the other skiers at the bottom of the runs and ferries them up to the summit. Conditions at the top are extremely variable. Winter temperatures range from 25 to 40 degrees F (-4 to 4 C), but wind chill and the high altitude can make it seem much colder. Between April and November the weather is milder, with daytime temperatures varying from 30 to 60 degrees F (0 to 15 C).

whoaw skiing in hawaii is pretty gnarly

don't sweat it too bad. you'll come back to the mainland and ski. skiers make it happen, regardless of how broke we are.

Also, I do NOT reccomend going to Hilo. Manoa is a much better deal, and Oahu is fucking sweet. I grew up between the North Shore and California. I've only been skiing for 3 or 4 years because of that. I grew up surfing and its really easy to get hooked on.

But there's also something completely irreplacable about skiing. When I'm back in Kuilima during any winter period, theres a wierd feeling i cant describe. Warm winters just dont seem right, you know? Youll miss skiing, for sure.

Good luck, guy!

Skiing isnt my favorite sport. If I had the choice I would fill my life with fishing and BMX, I have as much fun setting up a jump for other skiers to hit as I do skiing myself. Ban me?

just cut a surfboard in half and put some snowboard bindings on with no heel/calf peace and just slip in

hawaii is amazing and surfing is really fun. im gunna move there when i retire or something, but for now skiing is more important.
