alright... I wanna learn Swedish (the basics anyways) and I got 9 months to do it... what would be the best way to do this? (take in mind I can't really find a swedish tutor anywhere around my place to help me out)

I learned basic to intermediate spanish in about 2 months with just a textbook and a couple of workbooks, but you might also want to try some tapes or something, but swedish isnt one of your mainstream languages so it might be hard to find materials for. I did it because I didnt want to waste a period on spanish 1 or 2 at school so I just learned it on my own and took third year spanish this year without ever having taken a class on it before, and I was at or above the level of most other kids in my class who had taken 2 full years. I think you could probably learn a language better on your own that at school.

theres all sortas stuff that u can order online~~like u buy tapes and sleep with them on all nite and you supposedly learn all the stuff on the tapes by a form of osmosis~~im pretty sure it wouldnt work but hey its worth a shot

oh man... one night we were just drivin' in Doug's van and for some reason we broke out into singing the Canadian anthem, than when we were done Joahn sung the Swedish anthem - it sounded cool...

and yea - that's the main reason why I wanna learn some swedish (to yeti). it's just that much easier to pick up chicks if you can speak their language... don't want Johan translating everything for me, than he can't get tail himself, and that's no fun.

For some reason, my Drama class broke into the American national anthem today... It was funny. A bunch of highschool Canadian kids trying to sing the American national anthem... It came from nowhere... lol

Us americans are always screwing up the canadiens athemn too, it seems we never get past 'Oh Canada, (rest of song hummed)'

my dad tried to teach me a bit growing up. I don't remember any of it. Only the ones he used the most, which were swear words.

advice for mike hunt...:).....go to a computer store..like staples or office max...they usually have good foriegn language programs just use it for a while everyday and voila ur picking up and eating swedish chicks like sweedish fish

yeah those tape/book deals actually work

my friend used one before going on exchange...

it is a loooong boring process though.

i think your best option is to get illegal sattelite from sweeden and watch a lot of tv.
