Learning Backflips

So first off i'm posting this here since the trick tip cult is just dead now. I've been able to do backflips on trampolines perfectly for like 3 years now and I can gainer off the diving board at my local pool 10/10 times. This year I was hoping to now get backflips down while skiing. Since I already know how to do a backflip should I just say fuck it and huck it? Would I probably be able to land it? If not what do I need to do/ know to be able to land one. Also tips on how to do them would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I live in the midwest so doing them on a pow day is kinda out of the question. A pow day for my local mountain is getting like 2 inches of snow.

But really just go for it. Set it just like you do on tramps, just slightly slower/ faster depending on the size of the jump and what tramps you've been doing it on

If you have tramp backflips and gainers 100% of the time, you will land the first one you try on snow. Find a kicky 15 to 20 footer and send it.

Alright thanks for all the advice guys. Also i forgot to add that I can do them off either the low dive or high dive and the tramp is just a circular one with a 12 foot diameter.

You need to learn them on the water ramps first. Then take them to the air bag. Only then it might be possible to land a backflip on snow

You seem to have decent air awareness, so just go for it. Set a little less than you think you should because you can always tuck and speed up your flip, but you can't slow it down.

seriously though, I find gainers more difficult than backflips on skis. Just find a decent sized jump, pop hard, spot your landing and tuck a little if you need to.

build urself a booter, then wait for a warm or pow day and build urself a nice little bed, thats how i learned them.

Build up a booster...think it out ( experience on tramps ), visualize and execute. Be confident and you will nail it!

Not to threadjack, but actually yes kind of. I didn't feel like making a new thread cause it'd just take up space.

I have switch lipslides on lock going onto down rails, now if I just wanna go switch on (tails over) should i look over my inside shoulder or outside shoulder?

I did my first backflip like three weeks ago on a super poppy jump that we built in a park. We were landing on mud and it was sketchy but I sent it and stomped the first one. Just make sure you commit

I tried mine on a self built jump. Wasn't powder though. Went fairly well, by my third try i got it, then got it down in the park. Fun stuff

Is it a bad idea to just send my first one on a regular park jump that wasn't custom built by me to a ton of pop? I'm guessing i'd have to just jump a little harder?

I know its cliche, but Backflips are so much easier than you think. A nice little poppy jump is pretty much already throwing you into a backflip, you just need to go with it and spot your landing. I suggest going into the jump slightly bent over your skis, and as you go off swing your hands from the sides of your knees up and in front of your chest. You can tuck your knees or lay it out, but from experience, I would say just do a slight tuck on the first couple tries, as to not over rotate or land on your head. Just trust the physics of the jump, keep looking up for the landing, and as you see it coming around just stand up and bang it out.

And if you can ganer into a pool you are gonna be fine. I can backflip on snow and not even on a tramp
