LCC shack building

Alta and snowbird shredders: would anyone be down to help build a shack or two this summer? I’m thinking building something where the HH hut was, or possibly a completely different location. Also thinking about just trying to solidify and fix up the shack on the alta/bird ridge (more of a rebuild) and the NB one. PM here or contact me on insta @cameronjepperson if you wanna help build/plan. Could really use some input/some motivated individuals ?

Idk that’s why I gotta discuss with homies that will help build. But HH hut stood since the 90s and was only torn down bc of structural worries. I really don’t think snowbird is worried about having another shack as long as it’s somewhat off the beaten path and is structurally sound. And there are also some smaller projects that I plan on doing with already existing shacks.

They're not just gonna tear it down?

The Den in eagles nest is all I need, need one in white pine and days/silver fork now for the BC boys.

The den is awesome but I feel like it’s too open on the front and sides. Still gets pretty chilly in there if there is any wind. Plus that has to be dug out after every storm. But enough people use it that that’s not too big of a problem

Yeah true, has the shovel always and people are in and out a lot, once the sides are walled with snow it’s aight and the views good but could be bigger or more protected. Peruvian ridge would be sick to put one on, just depends where and if its somewhere often open or not.

There’s already one on the Peruvian ridge my guy. You get it from the kitty cat. It just needs a lil lovin.

Hmmm where’s it at over there? Not sure if I’ve been to it or not, feel like I’ve seen a sad looking den somewhere at Alta but idk where, been to long since I wasn’t reduced to touring.

If you look up the shacks on google you can find some more info about where it’s at. I’m not going to say it again so that it’s not easier to find it through a google search. All I can say is I think the one on that ridge has the superior view out of all the shacks, and the best view down canyon, at least from alta. Such a nice spot to smoke up

Ohh shit where is this thing?

also remembered on Cardiff peak across Alta there’s usually a traverse people set and right off it is a bat cave in the cliff band, pretty cool spot.

I mean yea that’s what a smoke shack is for. But it’s also to create a deeper connection with my favorite place in the world. I enjoy utilizing the shacks that have been built in the past, but I think it can also be super satisfying smoking up in something that you built or helped improve.

Damn dude! That’s a sexy looking lean-to! Would love to hear about the building process/maintenance involved (if you were a part of that). Also if you’re feeling real generous, would be eternally grateful if you even gave me a general area in where to look for this beaut. PM me if you’re about it... :)

The cave sounds dope. Think you could navigate to it in the summer? I’d be down to take a hike up there if you’d be willing to show me. Or send me gps coords or specific directions lol

As an inbounds skier, I'd rather work on one inbounds somewhere but will help all the same

Yea absolutely I’m 100% gonna be working on 1 or 2 inbounds. Just would like to expand my knowledge of the hidden gems of the wasatch

I think it’s that bigger cliff I boxed in, it may need to be a little lower tide to get into without digging. Would’ve gone in if I had a piff, plus I was exiting cardiac ridge for the first time and was beat as fuck.

looks like UDOT is putting in 12 new gazex pipes from Toledo to almost chads area, feel like it’s maybe a bit unnecessary for that many there, Toledo was the only one to cross the road up there (maybe they all did from that cycle?) but figured they’d put one kinda off superior or two trees area. Seen aerial bomb marks a few times across there I think so maybe to avoid that on storm days, feel like some areas lower down the canyon need em more, can’t complain if it helps me ski and ski a bit safer.
