Lawsuits for bike injuries

It seems more and more common. Last year a guy goes over the handle bars on an xc trail, and is now sueing the kalapore (sp) for 1.7 million bucks because he broke his kneck. Assuming this all goes through, the trails there will be shut down. And today, reading the paper, O cup Canada Day DH race at blue mountain (ontario) is cancelled this year because "twenty eight year old Chris Jansel of London, Ont. suffered nerve damage to his neck in a crash at last year's Ontario Cup races at blue mountain. he currently requires the use of a cane to walk" . So this guy is suing the organizers of the race, and Blue mountain as a co-defendant. It's obvious that theres risk involved, im sure these people deserve some compensation for their injuries, but what they ask for is unreasonable, and is ruining the sport.

i think lawsuits are overused. like some bitch was eating at mcdonalds a pickle fell out of the burger onto her chin, and she said it burnt her so bad that she needed plastic surgery and then she sued mcdonalds.

then what the hell is he complaining about, there should have been a "we are not responsable....blah blah" clause in there somewhere

they dont deserve any compacation (sp) or whatever you said, they just want money. if they crashed on thier own power thats thier fualt, they shouldn't have been riding over thier heads, thats a risk you yourself decides whether to take or not.

vincepru-"i jibbed a car in a parking lot yester day and the bumper fell off, then i ran."

Dishonest people like that piss me off so much, those fuckers are money freaks. What did the organizers do to provoke accidents??Nothing of course, he could have ran into a pole walking down the street this same day and he'd have said it's the citie's fault...

He doesn't deserve compensation at all, he's the only responsible person for his own accident.

it happens too much in skiing too. My favorite quote is b scot schmidt-"People suing ski resorts should be shot"

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

the guy at blue wont get anything....canada's legal system doesnt support lawsuits the way the states do. but its still enough to cause people to rethink events. people like that ruin it for everyone

i can't stand people like that- mountain biking, especially downhill racing is a high risk sport. people should know their skill level before riding a trail that they can't handle.

No Props!

just shows you what this world has come too, people wont admit thay they are incompetant to do anything on the poklanet but take up space, so they sue people, what a great idea. ...NOT
