As much as Vail sucks, suing because you didn't get your moneys worth out of a season pass you had for more than 75% of the season and there happens to be a pandemic is fucking stupid.

I had an epic pass and a local pass to another place plus a bunch of comps for spring. I fucking love spring. I obviously wasn't stoked to lose my job the day if the biggest snowstorm we had all season, and were going to major park rebuilds, and not be able to ski but it's whatever.
Shit happens. Nobody is stoked, but be a man about it, pour a glass of whiskey and get the fuck over it.

This is stupid, no one wins a lawsuit against Vail or Alterra. They have armies of lawyers. Even if they had a case (which they don't at all) then they would still lose.

A couple Incline guys just won their case about the late paid parking announcement/refusing to refund passes.
After working there I have zero sympathy for those fucks. Half of our grooming crew wasn’t getting paid the first half of the season let alone all of our logged hours were incorrect.

Pretty much If you don’t want to pay to park in the upper lots you have to park in the lower lot and shuttle a couple miles to the village and walk to the gondola.
Everyone lost their shit immediately and demanded refunds before the resort had even opened. They pretty much ghosted everyone and a riot ensued on their FB page.
it was pretty hilarious. People are still spamming their social media with parking puns.

Ikon is offering 200 dollars down 0 interest on their passes now which is kinda nice. Hopefully we have a season to look forward to come fall

I totally side with Vail on this. Now I would be open to suing them for shutting resorts while their is still snow as corporate bean counters deem it not profitable.
But absolutely nothing comparable stayed open.
You can’t sue in mountain towns and win anyways. Gotta be in a big city.

I guess highlands is reopening but guessing thats about the lawsuit or dealing with piased off costumers because they usually close around the 12th 13th. Whatever that weekend is i think

I guess it puts me on the opposite side of eeveryone. Due to my job circumstances I ski for a full month end of march and april. It's the only time of the year I can take any vacation and live outside of the continental u.s.
I bought the pass just for that month. I'm aware of the offer for next season of 80% off but I personally want a refund instead as I'll be living in japan all of next year and working..

Honestly, you bought a non-refundable pass. It sucks, but you buy what you buy. If you knew that you weren't going to able to ski until later in the season and wanted 100 percent certainty, than you probably should have bought day tickets. I know they are outrageously expensive, but it's just tough shit. Sorry. The only people I feel bad for are the ones that bought pass insurance and still got screwed, but even that isn't on Epic.

In terms of your question I doubt anyone would be OK with a whole season being cancelled, however that's a totally different story than a single month being removed. The thing is you buy that pass knowing that seasons are fluid and anything can happen to shorten or lengthen a season. Banking on late season is risky and not comparable to an entire season being shut out.
I also wasted money on a season pass two years ago too so know the feeling. Bought a peak resorts pass to use early season and occasionally other times since peak season I was going to real mountains. This was before vail bought them out. The historical trends were good so I calculated I could get a decent 10-15 days in at least before January ended for a total of 20-25 by season end in March sometime. I watched as the other local hill pumped out snow like a boss and was open early December. Yet the hill I had passes to continually put off making snow because weather wasn't going to be sustainably good for another month or so. Except the weather never is consistently cold.... They could have done it but they would have spent money they didn't have to. I skied 5 days in the pass and didn't even come close to making up half my purchase. Point is, it sucks but nothing you can do.
