I've seen some threads where people say they are either police currently or want to be in the future. Anyone currently in a background investigation process/ wait list? Current P.O.'s? I'm interested in knowing how many people on NS are interested in this field.
 
i'm interested also since my perception of 99% of NS members is as follows:

My one friend was going through the process. Not exactly sure how far he got but they told him he needed more life experience. He is only 21 though. He had to go do some security work at concerts and stuff like that.
 
yeah i'm 21 too and i got a feeling i wont be getting a job for a few more years. i am in some background investigations and on waiting lists though.
 
I went to school for criminal justice. Currently seeking a probation officer position with little luck.
 
Went through the hiring process to be a state trooper twice. Made it to final interviews twice, but never got the job. Currently on the final list for a major western-US fire department.
 
It the last couple weeks I've actually started giving serious thought into becoming an officer in a city with the intention of making detective. Maybe I'm watching too much Dexter but there is something very appealing of solving cases.
 
My cousin has been looking at being a cop since he got out of college(few years idk how many) but last time we talked it seemed like he was Definately going to get a job at one of the local stations. What he did was a lot of ride alongs things. Idk what it was called but he was basically an unpaid intern. He rode with the cops getting field experience and learning how to handle different situations. He dressed like a cop and had all the abilities they have, just always had to be with a senior officer. Gave him great job experience and looked great on resumes. You should Definately look into doing this if you want to be a cop.
