Hey guys,

Speaking of there still being lots of snow left in the Northwest.... I am living in Metaline Falls in Pend Oreille County, Washington this summer for an internship and am looking for people to maybe do some late-season Ski mountaineering around here with. Metaline Falls is in the middle of nowhere [seriously, look it up] in way northestern Washington like 50 miles south of Nelson, B.C, in the Selkirk Mountains. I was amazed to see how how snow there still is up high here; looks like it should still be good for a while! I have an A.T setup [K2 Seth's with Duke Bindings, Skins, ect..] and Avy Gear, plus a lot of general backcountry travel stuff. I'll be free pretty much every weekend, am also def. interested in hitting up some of the Mountains around Nelson B.C and maybe farther in Canada.... prob. make a few trips out to Whistler for some summer glacier skiing. Anyways yeah shoot me an email and if anyone else finds themselves way up in Northeastern WA let me know!!

Peace,

Phil Persson

so a funny story about ski mountaineering late in the season, so 2 weeks ago I figured I'd skin through the stewarts. Long story short, I got about 1.5 miles to the trailhead and this ingenious loop I was gonna make turned sour, the waterfall I was supposed to ski down melted in the week since my friend had seen it, and I had to backtrack my entire trip, taking an extra day and turning my relaxing skin into a 42 mile haul in 2 days (2 nights spent) so anyways, I finally get back, and im in the safeway at leavenworth getting a drink, I hear my name and turn around to see my 3 roommates standing there looking bewildered. apparently my absence of 1 night caused them to file a missing persons report with the police, try and call every person I could possibly know to find my parents phone number, activate search and rescue, and drive to leavenworth to see if my car was at the trailhead, but they were caught short when they saw my car in the safeway parking lot. the best part is the haggard way that my parents were contacted about this. Nobody seemed to call my mother save my best friend from growing up, who left a message saying "Hey, I heard about Eric, I love you guys, Im praying for you" click, thats all she heard about anything in the situation, and basically thought I was dead. mhm. hilarious.
