Last year to hit Chad's Gap and Pyramid

Just thought I'd let you all know that if you've ever dreamed of hitting Chad's Gap or Pyramid Gap, it sounds like this is the last year that you'll be able to do so. Alta will be putting a lift up grizzly gulch next summer. Just got back from a very interesting meeting with the 7 central wasatch GMs........

MASSIVE LAND GRAB going down all brought about by the canyons pushing for a lift connecting them to solitude and snowbird expanding into mary ellen gulch. kiss 50% of the backcountry in the wasatch goodbye.

don't like what you hear???!?!

call or email your local representatives and tell them that you don't support

H.R. 3452 - Wasatch Range Recreation Access Enhancement Act

here is the info for the utah congressman

I thought ski patrol blew up chads...

but in all seriousness this is an important cause. Respect the BC and support the wilderness.

HR 3452 is a bill that is being heard by the US House of Representatives this week. it will change the skiing in the central wasatch forever and alta OWNS the land in grizzly gulch and hasn't hidden its intentions to expand up there. just wait......

I am just imagining a hoard of teenagers standing in front of the landing of chads protesting the expansion.

I was under the impression that the forest service owned the land which is why Alta has to shut down operations in April.

yes the forest service owns most of the skiable acreage that alta currently operates on. but alta owns grizzly gulch west to flagstaff mountain.

fight the power!!!!

flood your representatives with emails.

Call your congressman non-stop!

Call the ski areas and tell them how you feel about the backcountry in the wasatch!!

one of the saddest things about this is that there was a bill sent to the house protecting the wasatch that has been held up for years, and this bill selling the land to the canyons was introduced and sponsored by utah representitaves immediately.

and the spokesperson for canyons gondola is the ex mayor of salt lake city, who voted for years to protect the wasatch. and now sold out to taliskier to use his power (of knowing whats right for utah) in the state to help canyons achieve a more reputeable status in their greedy plan.

That's stupid, I can understand it coming from their perspective but to us skiers it's bogus. It's such a major part of freestyle ski history it'd be sad to see it go.

If this happens an integral part of the BC for both young skiers and old will be ruined.

I can't imagine a season without hitting all of the classic Grizzly jumps. With gates so close to the other terrain, more than just Grizz will be affected (effected? fucccckk I never know the difference).

Cardiac, Superior, Hogum, all that shit will be easier to access and much higher traffic I'd say.

great, now you can hit chad's inbounds on the way to hot chocolate in the lodge!

for real though.. if true, that really sucks

*sigh* why do people care about this? For years you couldn't even have the satisfaction of at least knowing the whereabouts of chad's gap, and if you tried to ask someone where it was you would just get trolled. Now that these "locals" are in danger of losing something that isn't even their fucking property you want us to defend it? ....no ( not trolling either bring the hate)

... Wolverine Cirque. They'd prolly make that forever banned too. ARRRRRGGGGHHH. Fucking republicans (and the rest of the money party bitches, which is basically all politicians).

I don't think people really care about the jumps, i think people are more concerned about the amount of skinning/hiking access that will be lost...

Before all this shit goes down, Tanner should make a "redemption" video. (not really redemption) but where he goes back and switch 9's it again, but lands it.

you know he stomped it first right? then hit it later in the day when the snow had slowed a bit and BOOM, you know the rest.

it is our property. its forest service land, which means its owned by the taxpayers. we have every right to fight for the protection of our forests.
