kinda sorta need one for a shoot tomorrow. Not a big deal if i don't but i'm bored and i might as well. Thought about using a real umbrella and lining it with tin-foil but i don't know how to mount my strobe (SB-28) pocket wizard triggers.
Diagrams will be met with awesomenessssss

actually wanted a whitty comment on how stupid i am.
i should have previewed this. FLASH umbrella

I have a shoot through and a reflective one you can borrow, with lightstands and flash mounts.

And it sounds like you want a umbrella to shoot against, and I honestly wouldnt suggest making on. Using tin foil will either give you really hard direct, white (almost silverish) light. If you crinkle it, the light will be a little less direct, but scattered in which you cant really control. If you are looking to soften light, I would suggest a DIY softbox before an DIY umbrella. If worse comes to worse, white linens, I've done it before with moderate success.

Thanks for the offer but i was just hoping to throw something together for tomorrow. Probably picking up a B400 with a strip box in the next few weeks.

Couldn't find linens (was going to make a wood frame with a taunt sheet over it then fire the strobe from the other side) So i'm making a cardboard frame and using notebook paper =p

works just as well, Ive made notebook paper diffusers before. Unless this is a paid shoot, how you get it done doesnt matter.

Just in case anyone cares. i made a paper one. Only shot a few images at school but tried it when i got home. (the first pic is sideways). NS goofed the quality on the second one. Shots are unedited. (crop ion the second)
8 sheets of printer paper, cardboard, staples, clear tape.
